"Electric Lady" is a song by American psychedelic soul and Contemporary R&B, R&B singer Janelle Monáe featuring singer Solange Knowles, Solange. It was released on July 30, 2014 as the fourth and final single from Monáe's second studio album, ''The Electric Lady''. The song serves as the title track from the album and is one of the more up-tempo tracks on the album. Taking on the concept of female empowerment, "Electric Lady" focuses on the need for women to be themselves while at the same time maintaining self-control over their bodies and sexuality; therefore, taking the power over women's bodies from men. As with her song, "Q.U.E.E.N.", Monáe raps the climax portion of the song to further get her point across. Janelle Monáe Robinson (; born December 1, 1985) is an American singer, rapper and actress. She is signed to Atlantic Records, as well as to her own imprint, the Wondaland Arts Society. Monáe has received eight Grammy Award nominations. Monáe won an MTV Video Music Award and the ASCAP Vanguard Award in 2010.
