Morpeth was an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of New South Wales, created in 1859 and partly replacing Northumberland Boroughs and including Morpeth. Myles McRae
Myles McRae (1845 – 13 April 1926) was an Australian politician. He was born at Dunmore on the Hunter River to farmer Alexander McRae and Mary McInnes. He was a businessman in Morpeth, and later a land speculator in Sydney. In 1871 he married Clara Charlotte Taylor, with whom he had four children. In 1889 he was elected to the New South Wales Legislative Assembly as the Protectionist member for Morpeth, but he did not contest the 1891 election. John Bowes (Australian Politician)
John Wesley Bowes (21 July 1843 – 4 February 1897) was an Australian politician. He was born in Parramatta to baker John Bowes (later a Wesleyan clergyman) and Euphemia Bridges (), a temperance reformer and suffragette. He was a commercial agent around Morpeth and Tamworth and from 1885 was principal promoter of the Hunter River Farmers' and Consumers' Cooperative Company. He served a period as mayor of Morpeth. On 23 January 1874 he married Emma Jane Young at Kurrajong. Robert Wisdom (New South Wales Politician)
Sir Robert Wisdom, (31 January 1830 – 16 March 1888) was a politician in colonial New South Wales and Attorney General of New South Wales. Early life and education Wisdom was born in Blackburn, Lancashire, England, and arrived in Australia in 1834 with his parents, moving to Morpeth in the Hunter Valley. He was educated at Maitland and at the Sydney College. In November 1858 he was appointed a clerk of petty sessions at Stoney Creek, before being appointed a sub-commissioner of gold fields, and a magistrate. Political career In 1859 he resigned his office as gold commissioner in order to stand as a candidate for the new district of Goldfields West, where he was elected at Sofala on a show of hands, and was easily re-elected at the 1860 election. On 26 October 1861 he was admitted to the Colonial Bar.
