Electoral District Of Wooroora
Wooroora was an electoral district of the House of Assembly in the Australian colony (state from 1901) of South Australia. The electorate was created by the Electoral Districts Act 1872 of the South Australian parliament but it was not until the provincial election of 1875 that candidates were first elected to represent Woorooroo. The electorate stretched from Gulf St Vincent in the west to Riverton in the east, spanning the central and northern Adelaide Plains from the River Light in the south to Hoyleton and Auburn north of the Wakefield River, in the north. The structure of the parliament was changed and its membership reduced by the Constitution Act Amendment Act, 1901. The new Wooroora district elected three members and comprised the former Wooroora and Light districts. Port Wakefield, South Australia
Port Wakefield (formerly Port Henry) is a town at the mouth of the River Wakefield, at the head of the Gulf St Vincent in South Australia. It was the first government town to be established north of the state capital, Adelaide. Port Wakefield is situated from the Adelaide city centre on the Port Wakefield Highway section of the A1 National Highway. Port Wakefield is a major stop on the Adelaide – Yorke Peninsula and Adelaide – Port Augusta road routes. Travellers between Adelaide and any of the Flinders Ranges, Yorke Peninsula, Eyre Peninsula or the Nullarbor Plain will likely travel through Port Wakefield. Hundred Of Grace
The Hundred of Grace is a cadastral unit of hundred located on the northern Adelaide Plains of South Australia spanning the township of Mallala and the Grace Plains. The hundred was proclaimed in 1856 in the County of Gawler and named by Governor Richard Graves MacDonnell after Grace Montgomery Farrell, wife of James Farrell, Dean of Adelaide. The hundred spans a significant portion of the lower Light River, which flows from north east to south west through the area. Apart from Mallala, the hundred includes the localities of Redbanks, Fischer, Barabba, Pinkerton Plains (most part) and Grace Plains (most part). The Hundred of Alma is a cadastral unit of hundred located on the northern Adelaide Plains of South Australia spanning the township of Alma and the Alma Plains. The hundred was proclaimed in 1856 in the County of Gawler and named by Governor Richard Graves MacDonnell for the River Alma on the Crimean Peninsula, the location of the Battle of the Alma, the first Allied victory in the Crimean War. The Hundred of Dalkey is a cadastral unit of hundred located on the northern Adelaide Plains in South Australia, immediately south of the Wakefield River. It is one of the eight hundreds of the County of Gawler. It was named in 1856 by Governor Richard Graves MacDonnell for his hometown Dalkey, a seaside resort in Ireland. The eastern outskirts of the township of Balaklava spills over the western boundary of the hundred (from the Hundred of Balaklava). The Hundred of Balaklava is a cadastral unit of hundred located on the northern Adelaide Plains in South Australia immediately south of the Wakefield River. Hundred Of Hall
The Hundred of Hall is the cadastral unit of hundred on the northern Adelaide Plains centred on the town of Halbury. It is one of the 16 hundreds of the County of Stanley. It was named in 1860 after parliamentarian George Hall (1851-1867). The main localities in the hundred are Halbury and Hoyleton with parts of Balaklava, Stow, Watchman and Kybunga, also within the hundred bounds. Local government On 14 November 1878, the District Council of Hall was established, bringing local government to the hundred, following petitioning by resident landowners. The five wards of Hall council were Hoyleton, Halbury, Wakefield, Woodlands and Watchman's Plains. The Hundred of Stow is the cadastral unit of hundred on the northern Adelaide Plains. It is one of the 16 hundreds of the County of Stanley. It was named in 1867 by Governor Dominick Daly after Randolph Isham Stow (1828–1878), twice Attorney-General of South Australia. Parts of the localities of Mount Templeton, Stow, Whitwarta, Watchman and Balaklava are within the hundred. The Hundred of Goyder is the cadastral unit of hundred on the northern Adelaide Plains centred on the locality of Goyder. It is one of the 16 hundreds of the County of Stanley. It was named in 1862 by Governor Dominick Daly after George Goyder, famed South Australian surveyor. In addition to the localities of Goyder and Beaufort, most of Nantawarra lies within the Hundred of Goyder. Tarlee, South Australia
Tarlee is a town in South Australia. The origin of the name is uncertain, but it is thought to be a corruption of the name Tralee in Ireland. The township of Tarlee was advertised as readied for sale by auction in 1867. Tarlee is in the lower Mid North region where Horrocks Highway crosses the Gilbert River. It is approximately 8 km south of Giles Corner, where the Barrier Highway to Broken Hill diverges from the Horrocks Highway through the Clare Valley. At the , Tarlee had a population of 302.
