Electoral District Of Mount Burges
Mount Burges was an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Western Australia from 1901 to 1904. The district was located in the Eastern Goldfields and was created from the outer regions of the seat of Coolgardie, which was reduced to the town of the same name. It was named after the town of Mount Burges and also included Boorabbin, Bullabulling, Kambalda, Londonderry, Dunnsville, Widgiemooltha, Bonnie Vale, Kundana, Kintore, Kunanalling, Balgarri, and Waverley. Dunnsville, Western Australia
Dunnsville is an abandoned town in Western Australia located 46 km north-west of Coolgardie in the Goldfields-Esperance region of Western Australia. In 1894, gold was discovered in the area by a prospector, John George Dunn F.R.G.S, and the townsite was gazetted on 9 December 1897. By 1898, the population of the town was 67 (60 males and 7 females). The original lease later became better known as the ''Wealth of Nations'' mine. A coach service operated between the town and Coolgardie. The Australian Labor Party (Western Australian Branch), commonly known as WA Labor, is the Western Australian branch of the Australian Labor Party. It is the current governing party of Western Australia since winning the 2017 election under Mark McGowan. Waverley, Western Australia
Waverley, or Siberia, is a ghost town located between Kalgoorlie and Leonora. It is on the Davyhurst to Ora Banda Road in the Goldfields-Esperance region of Western Australia and has formed part of Maduwongga territory. Two prospectors Billy Frost and Bob Bonner discovered gold in the area in the late 1893, resulting in a gold rush to the area. The increasing population indicated a need for a townsite to be planned and lots were surveyed in 1898, which was initially to be named Siberia. The local progress association decided that the town should be named Waverley after a nearby mine. The townsite was gazetted as Waverley in 1898. Some of the mines close to town include ''Siberia'', ''Waverley'', ''Mexico'' and the ''Pole'' leases. Kunanalling is an abandoned town in Western Australia located between Coolgardie and Balgarri along the Coolgardie North Road in the Goldfields-Esperance region of Western Australia. It is located in the Shire of Coolgardie. In 1895 gold was discovered in the area by prospectors and it was initially known as 25 mile, its distance from Coolgardie. Kundana is an abandoned town in Western Australia located between Coolgardie and Bardoc in the Goldfields–Esperance region of Western Australia. After 58 miners petitioned the government to have the townsite declared in 1896 the town was declared the following year. The area was initially known as Barkers Find after the prospector who first found gold Gold is a chemical element with the symbol Au (from la, aurum) and atomic number 79. Bonnie Vale, Western Australia
Bonnie Vale is an abandoned goldfields townsite north of Coolgardie in the Shire of Coolgardie in Western Australia. History The town was gazetted in 1897. It was apparently named after Bonnie, a prospector who picked up a nugget here in May/June 1894. It is famous as the site of the Varischetti mine rescue of 1907, when Italian gold miner Modesto Varischetti was trapped for nine days in a mine when it was flooded after a thunderstorm. Varischetti survived in an air pocket until rescued. A diver using deep-sea diving equipment located Varischetti five days after the mine was flooded, and provided him with food, candles and letters of encouragement. Widgiemooltha, Western Australia
Widgiemooltha is an abandoned town in Western Australia east of Perth between Kambalda and Norseman in the Goldfields-Esperance region of Western Australia. It is found on the southern shoreline of Lake Lefroy. The location of the original townsite is on Kingswood Street, which runs at the rear of the Widgiemooltha Roadhouse. The Coolgardie-Esperance Hwy now bypasses the original townsite. In August 2015, the only evidence of the original township was the remains of the hotel. In the 1890s gold was discovered in the area and the townsite was gazetted in 1897 as Widgemooltha, the spelling being amended to the current form in 1944. In 1898 the town had a population of 112 (100 males and 12 females). The name of the town is Aboriginal in origin and is thought to be the name of a nearby hill and rock-hole. The Western Australian Legislative Assembly is elected from 59 single-member electoral districts. These districts are often referred to as ''electorates'' or ''seats''.
