Electoral District Of Jordan
Jordan is an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Queensland. It was created in the 2017 redistribution. It was named after politician Vi Jordan, second female Member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly. Based on the area between Ipswich and Logan, Jordan consists of the suburbs of Gailes, Carole Park, Camira, Brookwater, Augustine Heights, Springfield, Greenbank, New Beith, Lyons and Undullah. From results of the 2015 election, Jordan was estimated to be a safe seat for the Labor Party with a margin of 13.5%. Gailes is a suburb of Ipswich in the City of Ipswich, Queensland, Australia. In the Gailes had a population of 1,828 people. Geography The suburb is bounded to the north by the Ipswich Motorway and the Main Line railway and to the west by Woogaroo Creek, a tributary of the Brisbane River. The land use is predominantly residential with a small amount of undeveloped bushland in the south-west of the locality. History In 1823 explorer John Oxley named a local high point ''Dingo Hill'' () which became the local name for the area. This led to a local railway siding to also be named Dingo Hill. On 16 September 1925, the Dingo Hill railway siding was upgraded and renamedGailes railway station (), after the Western Gailes Golf Club in Ayrshire, Scotland. 2015 Queensland State Election
The 2015 Queensland state election was held on 31 January 2015 to elect all 89 members of the unicameral Legislative Assembly of Queensland. The centre-right Liberal National Party (LNP), led by Premier Campbell Newman, attempted to win a second term but was defeated by the opposition centre-left Australian Labor Party (ALP), led by Opposition Leader Annastacia Palaszczuk. Labor formed a minority government with the support of the lone independent MP in the chamber, Peter Wellington. It is only the seventh change of government in Queensland since 1915, and only the third time since 1932 that a sitting government in the state has failed to win a second term. Undullah is a rural locality split between the City of Logan and the Scenic Rim Region, Queensland, Australia. In the , Undullah had a population of 45 people. Geography Undullah is dominated by the Flinders Peak Group which rises towards its western boundary. New Beith is a rural residential locality in the City of Logan, Queensland, Australia. In the , New Beith had a population of 4,081 people.
