Lachlan Lucas Millar (born 17 December 1970) is an Australian politician. He has been the Liberal National Party member for Gregory in the Queensland Legislative Assembly since 2015. Millar grew up on a family property in the Central Highlands region, attending school in Capella and Emerald. After spending a decade working in the Emerald area, Millar was employed a rural reporter for ABC Local Radio for nine years. He then operated a small business on the Sunshine Coast where he worked as a public relations manager for Maroochy Shire Council for six years and unsuccessfully stood as a Division 7 councillor in the Sunshine Coast Regional Council local government elections in 2008. Vaughan Gregory Johnson (born 20 July 1947) is an Australian politician who served in the Legislative Assembly of Queensland from 1989 to 2015. Early life Born in Bourke, New South Wales, he was a grazier and contractor before entering politics. Political career Having moved to Queensland, he was a councillor on Quilpie Shire Council from 1970 to 1973. From 1972 to 1973, he was Chairman of the Quilpie Branch of the National Party. In 1989, Johnson was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Queensland as the National Party member for Gregory. Bill Glasson (politician)
William Hamline Glasson (23 February 1925 – 20 March 2012) was an Australian politician. Glasson was born in Toowoomba to Rupert Hamline Glasson and Melda Olive, ''née'' Lane. He attended correspondence and state schools and then Church of England Grammar School in East Brisbane. He served in the Royal Australian Air Force from 1943 to 1945 and on his return became a grazier. On 18 August 1949, he married Shirley Margaret Lockhart, with whom he had four children. A member of the Country Party, he was elected to Winton Shire Council in 1955, serving until 1957. In 1974 he was elected to the Queensland Legislative Assembly as the member for Gregory. He joined the front bench in 1980 as Minister for Lands and Forestry. Sir Wallace Alexander Ramsay Rae (31 March 1913 – 18 March 2006) was a member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly in Australia. He served in various Queensland Government ministries. Biography Rae worked as a stock and station agent before serving as a bomber pilot in World War II. After the war, he bought a property located between Blackall and Isisford. A member of the Country Party he was elected to the Queensland Legislative Assembly representing the electorate of Gregory in 1957. During his long career in Parliament, he held several ministerial positions including Minister for Local Government and Electricity and Minister for Lands and Forestry. Queensland Labor Party
The Queensland Labor Party (QLP) was a political party of Queensland, Australia formed in 1957 by a breakaway group of the then ruling Labor Party Government after the expulsion of Premier Vince Gair. In 1962 the party became the Queensland section of the Democratic Labor Party (DLP). The party continued to hold seats in the Queensland state parliament until 1972, then suffered a collapse in its vote and wound itself up in 1978. George Devries
George Henry Devries (4 July 1896 – 13 July 1957) was a member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly. Biography Devries was born at Stretford, England, the son of John Arms Devries and his wife Elizabeth (née Ware). He was apprenticed as a midshipman in 1911 and spent four years at sea before joining his parents at Bushley, near Rockhampton. In 1916 he joined the First Australian Imperial Force, serving with the 15th Battalion in France and Belgium. In July 1917 he suffered a self-administered gunshot wound to the knee. He was discharged with the rank of Lance Corporal in 1919. Once back in civilian life he held several jobs as a bushworker in the Longreach area before starting work with the Australian Workers' Union in 1925, first as a clerk and eventually as the Secretary of the Western District from 1929 until 1941. Charles Brown (Australian Politician)
Dr Charles Victor Watson Brown (24 May 1895 – 1 May 1970) was an Australian politician. He was the Independent member for Gregory in the Legislative Assembly of Queensland from 1939 to 1941. Brown was born in Paddington in Sydney and was educated at Fort Street Public School. He became a teacher before enrolling in a medical degree at the University of Sydney. He served for two years with the Royal Australian Army Medical Corps in World War I before completing his degree in 1920. He worked at the Mater Misericordiae Hospital and Royal Alexandra Hospital for Children and practised in Balmain in Sydney before moving to Isisford in Queensland as medical officer at the Isisford District Hospital. He later spent 17 years as a doctor at Longreach, including a stint as government medical officer, in which role he served until his election to parliament. George Pollock (Australian Politician)
George Pollock (27 June 1890 – 24 March 1939) was a member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly. He was the Speaker of the Queensland Legislative Assembly from 1932 until 1939 and died by a self-administered gunshot wound in Parliament House in 1939. Biography Pollock was born at Charters Towers, Queensland, the son of Matthew Pollock and his wife Naomi (née Gauvin). He was educated at Richmond Hill State School in Charters Towers and for most of his working life he engaged in bush work in Western and Northern Queensland. On 27 December 1909 he married Margaret Adeline Shepherd and together had two sons and a daughter. Pollock died at Parliament House, Brisbane in March 1939. The Australian Labor Party (Queensland Branch), commonly known as Queensland Labor or as just Labor inside Queensland, is the state branch of the Australian Labor Party in the state of Queensland. It has functioned in the state since the 1880s. History Trade unionists in Queensland had begun attempting to secure parliamentary representation as early as the mid-1880s. William McNaughton Galloway, the president of the Seamen's Union, mounted an unsuccessful campaign as an independent in an 1886 by-election.
