Electoral District Of Auburn (Queensland)
Auburn was an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Queensland from 1972 to 1992. First created for the 1972 state election, it largely replaced the abolished district of Mackenzie. Based in the west Burnett region, it was always a National Party seat. Auburn was abolished ahead of 1992 state election, largely absorbed into the pre-existing district of Callide, with parts also going to the new district of Fitzroy. Auburn River National Park
Auburn River National Park is a protected area in the North Burnett Region, Queensland, Australia. It is in the north-east of the locality of Hawkwood extending into southern Dykehead. Geography The park is 277 km northwest of Brisbane. The park is located on the Auburn River, a tributary of the Burnett River, south-west of Mundubbera. Auburn River National Park was established in 1964 and features a steep river gorge and hardwood forests. It contains some relics from a brief, unsuccessful goldrush in the late 19th century. Many species of birds, reptiles and mammals, such as the vulnerable brush-tailed rock-wallaby, live in habitats along the riverbank. Camping is allowed on the northern banks of the river at a campground where some facilities are provided. Bush camping is also permitted. Access is via Mundubbera-Durong Road. Nev Hewitt
Neville Thomas Eric "Nev" Hewitt (19 October 1920 – 19 July 2016) was an Australian politician. He was a Member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly. Early life Hewitt was born at Theodore, Queensland in 1920 to Herbert Deane Hewitt and his wife Mildred Sarah Elizabeth (née Davey). He started his schooling in Theodore before completing his education at Rockhampton Grammar School. World War II In World War II, he joined the Royal Australian Air Force, reaching the rank of Flying Officer. Hewitt was aboard a Wellington Bomber when it was shot down over Tunisia. He managed to parachute out and endured an artillery duel before landing and breaking his ankle. Over four nights he managed to crawl back to where his plane had crashed and destroyed anything of value to the enemy. He was finally rescued by a British patrol and for his actions was awarded the Military Medal and the Air Force Medal. Neville Harper
Neville John Harper (born 10 September 1926) is an Australian former politician. Life and career Harper was born in Brisbane on 10 September 1926, to Neville Barclay Harper and Hazel Jane, ''née'' Gardner. He attended New Farm and Nundah State Schools and then Brisbane Grammar School (1940–44) before becoming a grazier, farmer and real estate valuer. On 12 November 1949 he married Marjorie Pointon, with whom he had two daughters. From 1945 to 1947 he served in the Royal Australian Navy as a sub-lieutenant aboard HMAS ''Hawkesbury'' before returning to manage cattle properties in Barmundu and Kingaroy. In 1952 he was appointed manager of Mactaggarts station in Cunnamulla. Harper was a member of the National Party, and served as chairman of the Wandoan branch. Electoral District Of Fitzroy (Queensland)
Fitzroy was an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Queensland. The district was based in central Queensland, west of Rockhampton. It included the towns of Baralaba, Blackwater, Duaringa, Dysart, Mount Morgan and Wowan as well as some of Rockhampton's outer suburbs. The electorate was first contested in 1992. An earlier district based in the same region was also called Fitzroy. It was first contested in 1888 and abolished in 1960. In 2008, Fitzroy was abolished—with effect at the 2009 state election—as a result of a redistribution undertaken by the Electoral Commission of Queensland. Its former territory and voters were divided between the districts of Callide, Gregory, Mirani and Rockhampton. Callide is an electoral division in Queensland, Australia. It encompasses agricultural and mining towns in the Burnett, Callide and Dawson valleys. Major towns within the division's boundaries include Biloela, Calliope, Chinchilla, Jandowae, Miles, Bell, Monto, Eidsvold, Gin Gin, Biggenden, Gayndah, Mundubbera, Moura, Banana, Theodore, Baralaba, Taroom and Wandoan.
