El Valle del EspÃritu Santo is a village near Porlamar, in the Nueva Esparta state of Venezuela. Founded as the capital of the island in 1529, El Valle del EspÃritu Santo is just north of Porlamar. It is the birth town of Santiago Mariño and his sister, Concepción Mariño Concepción Mariño Carige Fitzgerald (1790–1854) was a heroine of the Venezuelan War of Independence. Santiago Mariño Carige Fitzgerald (25 July 1788 in Valle EspÃritu Santo, Margarita – 4 September 1854 in La Victoria, Aragua), was a nineteenth-century Venezuelan revolutionary leader and hero in the Venezuelan War of Independence (1811–1823). He became an important leader of eastern Venezuela and for a short while in 1835 seized power over the new state of Venezuela. Family His father was the captain of the "Santiago Mariño de Acuña" militias and "Lieutenant Greater Justice of the Gulf of Paria". The Virgin of the Valley (Spanish: Virgen del Valle or Nuestra Señora del Valle) is a Roman Catholic title of the Blessed Virgin Mary venerated in Margarita Island, Venezuela and Catamarca, Argentina. Basilica Of Our Lady Of El Valle
The Basilica of Our Lady of El Valle ( es, BasÃlica Menor Nuestra Señora de El Valle) It is a Gothic Revival basilica located in El Valle del EspÃritu Santo a town on the island of Margarita, of Nueva Esparta state, in northwestern Venezuela. Its name is in honor of the patron saint of the town and the Venezuelan Navy: the Virgen del Valle. After being founded the church San Nicolás de Bari, it was declared Basilica of Nueva Esparta state, on September 8, 1955, so that from that date its festivities are held; beginning with the descent of the Virgin on 8 September each year, which is placed where the public can see it up close.
