El Sonido de mi Tierra is a company from Argentina, for Tango Argentino and Folklore Argentino, founded by Luis Pereyra in 1996. "El Sonido de mi Tierra" means "The sound of my land". The Great Dance of Argentina is the international name of the same company, but used outside of Argentina and Spanish speaking countries. Both names are of the same company and same production. History "El Sonido de mi Tierra" was founded in 1996 with the "peña folklóica artística", organized by Luis Pereyra in "La Galería de Tango". Luis Pereyra
Luis Pereyra (born 9 July 1965) is a dancer and choreographer of Tango Argentino and Argentinian folk dances. Life Luis Pereyra was born to a humble working-class family, in the province of Santiago del Estero. At the age of five he danced in folk dancing groups. At the age of eleven he made his first professional appearance as a member of the ballet Argentino directed by Mario Machaco and Norma Ré. He made his first appearance on stage at the legendary Caño 14, where the famous bandoneón player Aníbal Troilo appeared at the same time. Later Luis Pereyra became a member of the Ballett Salta, directed by Marina and Hugo Jiménez. Luis Pereyra studied choreography under Maestro Carusso direction in Teatro Colón, the opera house of Buenos Aires, and at Escuela Nacional de Danzas. Tango In Argentina
Tango is a partner dance and social dance that originated in the 1880s along the Río de la Plata, the natural border between Argentina and Uruguay. The tango was born in the impoverished port areas of these countries as the result of a combination of Rioplatense Candombe celebrations, Spanish-Cuban Habanera, and Argentine Milonga. The tango was frequently practiced in the brothels and bars of ports, where business owners employed bands to entertain their patrons. The tango then spread to the rest of the world. Many variations of this dance currently exist around the world. On August 31, 2009, UNESCO approved a joint proposal by Argentina and Uruguay to include the tango in the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage Lists. Carlos Galvan
Uptown (Korean: 업타운) was a pioneering South Korean hip hop group that formed in 1997. The group's four original members were Chris Jung, Carlos Galvan, Steve Kim and Tasha Reid. The group underwent several line-up changes during the 90s and disbanded in 2000 following drug charges against Jung, Galvan, and Kim. When Reid left Uptown to pursue a solo career, the group made a comeback without her in 2006 with the album ''Testimony''. Teenage rapper Jessica H. O. joined the group for the album. Leopoldo Federico
Leopoldo Federico (12 January 1927 – 28 December 2014) was an Argentine bandoneon player, arranger, director and composer. Life Born in the district of Balvanera, Once in the city of Buenos Aires, Argentina, Federico was one of the most outstanding bandoneonists in the history of tango and was a member of a number of the major orchestras of the 1940s and 50s including those of Juan Carlos Cobián, Alfredo Gobbi, Víctor D'Amario, Osmar Maderna, Héctor Stamponi, Mariano Mores, Carlos di Sarli, Horacio Salgán and Aníbal Troilo. By 1952 he was making frequent appearances at the Tibidabo cabaret and was often heard on Radio Belgrano. In 1955 he joined Astor Piazzolla's Octeto Buenos Aires and later that year, with his own orquesta típica, he made many recordings with the singer Julio Sosa.
