Einstein Refrigerator
The Einstein–Szilard or Einstein refrigerator is an absorption refrigerator which has no moving parts, operates at constant pressure, and requires only a heat source to operate. It was jointly invented in 1926 by Albert Einstein and his former student Leó Szilárd, who patented it in the U.S. on November 11, 1930 (). The three working fluids in this design are water, ammonia, and butane. The Einstein refrigerator is a development of the original three-fluid patent by the Swedish inventors Baltzar von Platen and Carl Munters. Freon
Freon ( ) is a registered trademark of the Chemours Company and generic descriptor for a number of halocarbon products. They are stable, nonflammable, low toxicity gases or liquids which have generally been used as refrigerants and as aerosol propellants. These include the chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) that cause ozone depletion and HCFCs (such as chlorodifluoromethane). Rudolf Goldschmidt (1876—1950) was a German engineer and inventor, best known for the development of the Goldschmidt alternator radio transmitter, and the tone wheel receiver. Biography Early life Goldschmidt was born on March 19, 1876 in Neubukow, Mecklenburg, Germany, and grew up in that country. He studied engineering at Charlottenburg and Darmstadt Technical High School, and was awarded an electrical engineer degree at Technische Hochschule Darmstadt in January 1898. A breeder reactor is a nuclear reactor that generates more fissile material than it consumes.
