"Schunder-Song" is a punk rock song by German band Die Ärzte. It's the second track from their 1995 album '' Planet Punk''. The song got the name from Die Ärzte's crew member Erik Schunder. It's about standing up to somebody who has bullied you all your life, and describes the revenge by beating the bully up. The music video features the band performing the song on a theatre stage. The song was released as a single under the title "Ein Song namens Schunder" ("a song called Schunder"). Die Ärzte (; ) is a German rock band from Berlin. The band has released 14 studio albums. The group consists of guitarist Farin Urlaub, drummer Bela B and bass player Rodrigo González. All three write and perform their songs. History Early years Die Ärzte were formed in West Berlin in 1982 by Jan Vetter (alias Farin Urlaub, a pun on the expression "Fahr' in Urlaub", meaning "Go on vacation"), Dirk Felsenheimer (alias Bela B, referring to Dracula actor Bela Lugosi) and bassist Hans Runge, alias . Jan Vetter (born 27 October 1963), better known as Farin Urlaub. (from the German ''Fahr in Urlaub!'', "Go on holiday!"), is a German singer, guitarist and songwriter. He is best known as the guitarist/vocalist for punk rock band Die Ärzte. He has also been a solo artist since 2001, touring with his band, the Farin Urlaub Racing Team. His releases starting in 2006 are credited to the band. Early life Vetter was born on 27 October 1963 in West Berlin. Until the age of seven, he lived with his mother in a flat in Berlin's Moabit district, and then in Frohnau until he was 18.. His parents were low-income civil servants, and he has a younger half-sister named Julia. His mother often played records by The Beatles, and Vetter was introduced to music at a young age. "Quark" (meaning "rubbish", literally curd) is a punk song by Die Ärzte. It's the fourteenth track and the fourth single from their 1993 album '' Die Bestie in Menschengestalt''. It's about a man, who can't handle the chattering of his consort. The single version criticises the gibberish of politicians. The single version is also on "Das Beste von kurz nach früher bis jetze". The video In the video the single version of the song is sung. The video features the band in a bar with hillbillies and women with deep cleavage. The supposed members of the band are also dressed like hillbillies and they're eating curd while watching politicians, who are in fact the real band members, talking on TV. Also people in the bar are playing with food and throwing it at the TV-set. Hurra (song)
"Hurra" (in the booklet of the album, "Hurra!") is a song by the punk band Die Ärzte. It is the third track and the second single from their 1995 album ''Planet Punk''. In the fadeout, a sample from the movie Clerks can be heard („That's beautiful, man.“). The song lyrics state that the situation in Germany after reunification is much better than before, which is meant sarcastically. The video The video uses the single version of the song, which is slightly altered by some background voices and child's voice in the beginning and in the end. The video features the band performing the song in darkness; all band members are frowning, while the song sounds happy. This affirms that the song is meant sarcastically. Rodrigo González (musician)
Rodrigo "Rod" Andrés González Espíndola (born 19 May 1968) is a Chilean-born German musician known as the bassist and one of the singers of German rock band Die Ärzte. Early life González' parents were politically persecuted in Chile during the Pinochet dictatorship, and so were granted asylum in Hamburg. His family initially lived there on social benefits until his father found work. He completed his '' Abitur'' (school-leaving exams) at the Gymnasium Langenhorn. He has an older sister, Claudia, who also works as a musician (Universal González). As a teenager, González was a member of the band Die Erben. From 1986 to 1988, he played banjo in the Hamburg punk band Die Goldenen Zitronen, and from 1988 to 1989 he was the guitarist in the Rainbirds.
