Egyptian Basketball Federation
The Egyptian Basketball Federation is the governing body of the sport of basketball in Egypt. It joined International Basketball Federation FIBA in 1934. History It was founded in 1934, and was a member of FIBA Europe, as the FIBA Africa zone was not founded until 1961. Offices The Egyptian Basketball Federation offices are located in Cairo. Men's teams The Egyptian Basketball Federation originally focused on the men's Egyptian national basketball team, with their achievements including 9th place at the 1952 Summer Olympics, as well as its 5th place at the 1950 FIBA World Championship. At the FIBA Africa Championships, Egypt holds a records number of 16 medals. Egypt's men's team participated in the Summer Olympic Games seven times. In 1984 and 1988, Egypt came in the 12th on both occasions. The 2018 FIBA Under-17 Women's Basketball World Cup (Belarusian: Кубак свету па баскетболе сярод жанчын да 17 гадоў ФІБА 2018) was an international basketball competition held from 21 to 29 July 2018 in Minsk, Belarus. The 2016 FIBA Under-17 World Championship for Women (Spanish:Campeonato Mundial FIBA Sub-17 Femenino 2016) was an international basketball competition that was held in Zaragoza, Spain from 22 June 22 to 2 July 2016. It was the fourth edition of the FIBA Under-17 World Championship for Women. Sixteen national teams competed in the tournament. Australia won its first gold medal in this event by beating Italy, 62–38. In the semifinals, Australia beat the United States 73–60, handing the Americans their first ever loss in the history of the Under-17 World Championships. The United States would go on to win bronze. The 2014 FIBA Under-17 World Championship for Women (Czech:Mistrovství světa FIBA žen do 17 let 2014)was an international basketball competition held in Klatovy and Plzeň, Czech Republic, from 28 June to 6 July 2014. It was the third edition of the Under-17 Women's World Championship. Slovakia were to originally host the championship, but its national federation was suspended by the FIBA Central Board on 7 April. The Slovakian team still participated provided they meet the conditions imposed by FIBA. On 26 May, the FIBA Central Board lifted its suspension, and the national team can still participate. The tournament would still be hosted by the Czech Republic, though. The United States successfully captured their third title in a row by defeating Spain, in a rematch of the last edition's final, 77–75 in the final.
