Egge (Lower Saxon Hills)
The Egge Hills (german: Eggegebirge, ), or just the Egge (''die Egge'') is a range of forested hills, up to , in the east of the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. Geography The Egge extends from the southern tip of the Teutoburg Forest range near Horn-Bad Meinberg and Steinheim, Westphalia southwards to the northern parts of the Sauerland near Marsberg. Its highest point is the ''Preußischer Velmerstot'' at an altitude of 468m. It is part of the Lower Saxon Hills and one of the two main lines of hills within the Teutoburg Forest / Egge Hills Nature Park. Egge Church ( no, Egge kirke) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Steinkjer municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. It is located in the Egge, Nord-Trøndelag, Egge area, on the northern edge of the Steinkjer (town), town of Steinkjer. It is the church for the Egge parish which is part of the Stiklestad prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Nidaros. The white, wooden church was built in a long church design in the empire style in 1870 using plans drawn up by the architect Rasmus Mentsen Overrein. The church seats about 330 people. History The earliest existing historical records of the church date back to the year 1490, but the church was not new that year. The first church was a stave church that was likely built in the 14th century. The old church stood for several centuries. Egge is a former municipality in what was Nord-Trøndelag county, Norway. The municipality existed from 1869 until 1964. It included the land just north of the town of Steinkjer in what is now the municipality of Steinkjer in Trøndelag county. The small municipality was south of the lake Snåsavatnet, west of the lake Fossemvatnet, and east of Beitstad. The main church for the municipality was Egge Church, just north of the town of Steinkjer.
