Eger
Eger ( , ; ; also known by other alternative names) is the county seat of Heves County, and the second largest city in Northern Hungary (after Miskolc). A city with county rights. Eger is best known for its castle, thermal baths, baroque buildings, the northernmost Ottoman minaret, dishes and red wines. Its population of around 53,000 makes it the 19th largest centre of population in Hungary according to the census. The town is located on the Eger Stream, on the hills of the Bükk Mountains. Names and etymology The origin of its name is still unknown. One suggestion is that the place was named after the alder ( in Hungarian) which grew so abundantly along the banks of the Eger Stream. This explanation seems to be correct because the name of the town reflects its ancient natural environment, and also one of its most typical plants, the alder, large areas of which could be found everywhere on the marshy banks of the Stream although they have since disappeared. David Eger
David Benjamin Eger (born March 17, 1952) is an American professional golfer on the Champions Tour. Early life Eger was born in Fort Meade, Maryland. Amateur career He attended the University of North Carolina, and later East Tennessee State University. Professional career He turned professional in 1978, but won only $31,014 in 58 PGA Tour events, with only one top-10 finish. Re-instated amateur status In 1982, he went to work as a golf administrator and regained his amateur status. He served as Director of Tournament Administration for the PGA Tour from 1982–92; Senior Director of Rules and Competition for the USGA from 1992–95; and as Vice-President of Competition for the PGA Tour from 1995-96. Jack Egers
John Richard Egers (January 28, 1949 – September 10, 2021) was a Canadian professional ice hockey right winger. Originally drafted in 1966 by the New York Rangers, Egers would also play for the St. Louis Blues and Washington Capitals. Egers was an original member of the Capitals, who claimed him in the 1974 NHL Expansion Draft. Egri FC is a Hungarian football club, based in Eger. The club's colours are red and blue. They played five times in the first league, however there were two years in the recent past (2003–05) when the city of Eger had no adult football team. The team was refounded in 2005 and they played in lower divisions. In 2011, the club won the Nemzeti Bajnokság III, so in the 2011–12 season they play in the second league. Kent Eger (born February 18, 1981) is a Canadian professional golfer who plays on the Canadian Tour and Gateway Tour. Eger was born in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada and currently resides in Scottsdale, Arizona.
