Edwin Baker (American Football)
Edwin Baker (born June 1, 1991) is a former American football running back. He was drafted by the San Diego Chargers in the seventh round of the 2012 NFL Draft. He played college football at Michigan State. Professional career San Diego Chargers Baker was selected in the seventh round of the 2012 NFL Draft by the San Diego Chargers. On August 25, 2013, he was cut by the Chargers. Cleveland Browns On December 10, 2013, the Cleveland Browns signed Baker to their active roster, off of the Houston Texans practice squad. In his debut, on December 15, 2013 against the Chicago Bears, Baker scored his first touchdown in the NFL on a short run. The Browns still lost 38-31. In just three games with Cleveland, Baker finished in 3rd in rushing yards and tied for the team lead in rushing touchdowns with two. On August 25, 2014, Baker was cut by the Browns. Khiry Robinson (born December 28, 1989) is an American football running back for the Tiburones de Cancún of the Fútbol Americano de México (FAM). Robinson signed with the New Orleans Saints as an undrafted free agent in 2013. He graduated from Belton High School in Belton, TX and played college football at West Texas A&M. College career In 2008, Robinson played junior college football for Mesabi Range Community and Technical College (now known as Mesabi Range College) in Virginia, Minnesota, winning the Minnesota College Athletic Conference championship. Pierre Thomas (American Football)
Charles Pierre Thomas Jr. (born December 18, 1984) is a former American football running back. He played college football at Illinois. He was signed by the New Orleans Saints as an undrafted free agent in 2007. Thomas developed into an all-around threat as a runner, pass catcher, blocker, and special teams player. He led the Saints in rushing yards in 2008 and 2009 and again in 2013, when he also led all NFL running backs in receiving yards. He became known for his excellence in executing the screen pass; it was a screen pass on which he scored the Saints' first touchdown in their 31-17 win over Indianapolis in Super Bowl XLIV, two weeks after he had scored two touchdowns in the Saints' 2009 NFC Championship game victory. In sports, the practice squad, also called the taxi squad or practice roster, is a group of players signed by a team but not part of their main roster. Frequently used in gridiron football, they serve as extra players during the team's practices, often as part of the scout team by emulating an upcoming opponent's play style. Because the players on the practice squad are familiar with the team's plays and formations, the practice squad serves as a way to develop inexperienced players for promotion to the main roster. This is particularly important for professional gridiron football teams, which do not have formal minor league farm team affiliates to train players.
