Edward Bishop was involved in the witchcraft hysteria of 1692. Four men named Edward Bishop lived in Salem at the time of the trials. Most of the early genealogical works, such as those by Savage and Pope, were confused; and some stated as much. Edward Bishop, Baron Bishopston
Edward Stanley Bishop, Baron Bishopston, (3 October 1920 – 19 April 1984) was a British Labour Party politician. Born in Bristol, Bishop was educated at South Bristol Central School, Merchant Venturers' Technical College and Bristol University. He was an aeronautical design draughtsman. He contested Bristol West in 1950, Exeter in 1951 and South Gloucestershire in 1955. Bishop was Member of Parliament for Newark from 1964 to 1979, when he lost the seat to the Conservative Richard Alexander. Bishop was an assistant government whip from 1966 to 1967, and Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food from 1974 to 1979. After he lost his seat, he was created a life peer as Baron Bishopston, ''of Newark in the County of Nottinghamshire'' on 21 May 1981. He was sworn in as a member of the Privy Council of the United Kingdom in 1977, Giving Him the Honorific Title "The Right Honourable" and after ennoblement the Post Nominal Letters "PC" for Life. Edward Bishop (mayor)
Edward Brenchley Bishop (1811 – 25 April 1887) was the fourth chairman of the Christchurch Town Council, and seven years later the sixth Mayor of Christchurch in 1872–1873. Born in Maidstone, Kent to a wealthy family, his family lived in Belgium during his childhood. He took his father's profession as a distiller and worked in London for 21 years. His sister Susannah emigrated to New Zealand in 1849 and in the following year, many Bishop siblings followed her on the ''Charlotte Jane'', one of the First Four Ships of organised settlement of Canterbury. With his brother Frederick, he had a large farm just south of Christchurch, and the suburb of Somerfield continues to use their farm's name. The brothers were spirit merchants in the city. Bishop was elected onto the town and later city council eight times between 1863 and 1873. Edward Bishop (rugby Union)
Edward Bishop (10 October 1864 – 24 February 1919) was a Welsh international rugby union player who played club rugby for Swansea and was capped once for Wales. Rugby career During the 1882/83 season, Bishop was part of the Llandovery College team that played against fellow Welsh college team Christ College, Brecon. By 1888, Bishop had switched to first class rugby club Swansea, and that year he was part of the team that faced the first international touring team, the New Zealand Natives. Bishop was suffering with damaged ribs, but played regardless showing bravery throughout the match. At one point Bishop missed the goal from a dropkick by a matter of inches.Billot (1972), pg 19. George Victor Bishop (11 June 1932 – 8 June 2005), known professionally as Ed Bishop or sometimes Edward Bishop, was an American actor. He was known for playing Commander Ed Straker in ''UFO'', Captain Blue in ''Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons'' and for voicing Philip Marlowe in a series of BBC Radio adaptations of the Marlowe novels by Raymond Chandler. Eddie Bishop
Edward Michael Bishop (born 28 November 1961) is an English former professional footballer who played as a midfielder. He played in the Football League in England for Tranmere Rovers, Chester City and Crewe Alexandra and also played and managed in non-league football. He is the elder brother of comedian John Bishop. Edward James Bishop (born 15 July 1996) is an English professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for league one club Lincoln City. Club career Ipswich Town Bishop was born in Cambridge, Cambridgeshire.
