Education In Uganda
The system of education in Uganda has a structure of 7 years of primary education, 6 years of secondary education (divided into 4 years of lower secondary and 2 years of upper secondary school), and 3 to 5 years of post-secondary education. Education in Uganda is administered in English. All through out the levels in the education structure, modules are taught and assessed in English. The government of Uganda recognizes education as a basic human right and continues to strive to provide free primary education to all children in the country. However, issues with funding, teacher training, rural populations, and inadequate facilities continue to hinder the progress of educational development in Uganda. Girls in Uganda are disproportionately discriminated against in terms of education; they face harsher barriers when trying to gain an education and it has left the female population disenfranchised, despite government efforts to close the gap. Comboni College
Comboni College for Science and Technology (CCST), originally Comboni College for Computer Science, is a private college in Khartoum, Sudan, established as a technical college since 2001. It goes back to the earlier school for boys, founded by Catholic priests from Italy in 1929. History Comboni College Khartoum was founded in 1929 as a boys school by Catholic priests associated with the mission of Bishop Daniele Comboni. It was managed by priests and monks, who arrived in Sudan to continue Comboni´s work in education. Since its beginning, the college catered to students both with an international background, but most of them were Sudanese children. In 1999, parents asked the management to develop a post-secondary section. Nabumali High School
Nabumali High School (NHS) is a mixed, boarding, secondary school in the Eastern Region of Uganda. Location Nabumali High School is located in the village of Nabumali in Mbale District, off the Tororo–Mbale road, approximately , south of the city of Mbale. This location is at the foothills of Wanale, one of the mountain ranges that make up Mount Elgon. History The school was founded by the Church Missionary Society in 1900. It moved to its present location in 1912. In August 2004, a student strike occurred at the school in protest of the school bursar's alleged mishandling of funds. Uganda Martyrs' Secondary School Namugongo is a privately sponsored secondary school in Uganda. The school is located in Kira Sub-County, Wakiso District, Uganda History The Uganda Martyrs were killed in 1886, but guided the founders, 81 years later, on the name Uganda Martyrs' S.S Namugongo. The inspiration of the martyrs had been such that they are extolled in the school anthem and are implored daily to intercede for and bestow blessings on the school community. Financial constraints The low enrollment in the beginning meant minimal income. Students were paying UGX:700 as school fee and the teachers earned UGX:250. On many occasions, the school relied on donations from the founders and well-wishers to survive.
