Ruben Edera Ecleo Sr. (December 9, 1934 – December 20, 1987) was a Filipino cult leader who founded the Philippine Benevolent Missionaries Association in 1965, and the mayor of the municipality of Dinagat, Surigao del Norte from 1963 up to 1987. Early life Ruben Ecleo Sr. was born on December 9, 1934 in Cabilan island in Dinagat, Surigao (now part of the Dinagat Islands province). He was baptized to the Philippine Independent Church at age one in the neighboring town of Surigao. His family moved the western portion of Dinagat island prior to 1941 in an area in sitio Puyange which is now part of San Jose municipality. Ministry work Ecleo reportedly started his ministerial work at age eleven. He went to the United States in 1952 to undergo a months-long survey study tour before returning to the Philippines in 1953. ''Devotion'' (Italian title ''L'edera'') is a 1950 Italian melodrama film directed by Augusto Genina. The film is adapted from the famous Italian novel '' L'Edera'' written by Grazia Deledda and published in 1908. Synopsis Annesa (played by Columba Dominguez), is a from a declining aristocratic family and very much devoted to her family, the Decherchi, which is at the edge of financial collapse. The fate of the family depends on the success of their efforts to inherit the estate of a distant uncle who, is hosted by the Decherchis, because of his ill health and is now on the verge of dying. Annesa, exacerbated by the refusal of the uncle to help financially Annesa's financially strapped nephew Don Paulu Decherchi (played by Roldano Lupi), that she is secretly in love with, murders the uncle. "L'Edera" is an Italian language song, written by Saverio Seracini and Vincenzo D'Acquisto. The song premiered at the 8th Sanremo Music Festival in January 1958, being performed first by Nilla Pizzi and then Tonina Torrielli, with separate performances, and placing second in the competition, behind " Nel blu dipinto di blu" by Domenico Modugno and Johnny Dorelli. Edera, Basilisa
Basilisa, officially the Municipality of Basilisa ( Surigaonon: ''Lungsod nan Basilisa''; ceb, Lungsod sa Basilisa; tl, Bayan ng Basilisa), is a 4th class municipality in the province of Dinagat Islands, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 36,911 people. It is formerly known as Rizal. The town became a part of the province of Dinagat Islands in December 2006, when the province was created from Surigao del Norte by Republic Act No. 9355. However, in February 2010, the Supreme Court ruled that the law was unconstitutional, as the necessary requirements for provincial land area and population were not met. The town reverted to Surigao del Norte. On October 24, 2012, however, the Supreme Court reversed its ruling from the previous year, and upheld the constitutionality of RA 9355 and the creation of Dinagat Islands as a province.
