Edelweiss (political Party)
Edelweiss ( it, Stella Alpina, SA) is a regionalist, Christian-democratic political party active in Aosta Valley, Italy. The party's founder and longest-serving leader was Maurizio Martin. Currently, it is led by Ronny Bobey and Luisa Trione. Leading members have included Rudi Marguerettaz (party secretary in 2001–2013 and member of the Chamber of Deputies in 2013–2018), Pierluigi Marquis (President of Aosta Valley in 2017, later switched to another party) and Carlo Marzi (party secretary since 2016 and regional minister since 2020). Rudi, born Albert Rudolph (January 24, 1928 – February 21, 1973), also known as Swami Rudrananda, was born in Brooklyn, New York. Valdostan Union
The Valdostan Union (french: Union valdôtaine, UV), also Valdostian Union or Valdotanian Union is a regionalist and centrist political party in Aosta Valley, Italy. It represents mainly the Arpitan-speaking minority in the region. Former leader Erik Lavévaz has been the President of Aosta Valley since October 2020. The UV has been steadily represented in the Italian Parliament since 1976 and, due to the disappearance of the Christian Democracy party in the early 1990s, it has become the catch-all party of the region, similarly to the South Tyrolean People's Party in South Tyrol. Aosta Valley (''Vallée d'Aoste'', VdA) is a regionalist coalition of parties active in Aosta Valley, Italy. Under this banner, with some variations, the Valdostan Union (UV) has participated in Italian general elections, along with its allies (sometimes also countrywide parties), which have changed from time to time, since 1983. Since its foundation, the list has won most of the races for both houses of the Italian Parliament (see parliamentary delegations from Aosta Valley). Italian Republican Party
The Italian Republican Party ( it, Partito Repubblicano Italiano, PRI) is a liberal and social-liberal political party in Italy. Founded in 1895, the PRI is the oldest political party still active in Italy. The Italian Socialist Party (, PSI) was a socialist and later social-democratic political party in Italy, whose history stretched for longer than a century, making it one of the longest-living parties of the country. Founded in Genoa in 1892, the PSI dominated the Italian left until after World War II, when it was eclipsed in status by the Italian Communist Party. Progressive Democratic Autonomists
The Progressive Democratic Autonomists (french: Autonomistes démocrates progressistes, ADP) was a social-liberal and Christian-leftist Italian political party active in Aosta Valley. Its leading members included Cesare Dujany, Maurizio Martin, Angelo Pollicini, Ilario Lanivi, Giuseppe Maquignaz and Claudio Lavoyer. It was founded in 1984 by the merger of the Popular Democrats and the Progressive Valdostan Union. Its best electoral result was in 1988, when it won 11.0% of the votes and got elected four regional deputies.
