Echo
In audio signal processing and acoustics, an echo is a reflection of sound that arrives at the listener with a delay after the direct sound. The delay is directly proportional to the distance of the reflecting surface from the source and the listener. Typical examples are the echo produced by the bottom of a well, by a building, or by the walls of an enclosed room and an empty room. A true echo is a single reflection of the sound source. The word ''echo'' derives from the Greek ἠχώ (''ēchō''), itself from ἦχος (''ēchos''), "sound". Echo in the Greek folk story is a mountain nymph whose ability to speak was cursed, leaving her able only to repeat the last words spoken to her. Some animals use echo for location sensing and navigation, such as cetaceans (dolphins and whales) and bats in a process known as echolocation. Echoes are also the basis of Sonar technology. Francesca Lia Block (born December 3, 1962) is an American writer of adult and young-adult literature. She is known for the '' Weetzie Bat'' series, which she began while a student at UC Berkeley. Early life Block was born in Los Angeles to a poet and a painter. She attended UC Berkeley. Career Block writes both novels and poetry. Her first two books, ''Moon Harvest'' (1978) and ''Season of Green'' (1979), were small-press illustrated poetry collections, now out of print. Since then, she has released several standalone collections of poetry, as well as incorporating poetry and lyrics into many of her novels. Block did not originally start out with an editor, but was published by using her connections. She attributed her success partly to publishers being interested in shorter books. Echo of Moscow (russian: links=no, Эхо Москвы, translit=Ekho Moskvy) was a 24/7 commercial Russian radio station based in Moscow. It broadcast in many Russian cities, some of the former Soviet republics (through partnerships with local radio stations), and via the Internet. From 1996 its editor-in-chief was Alexei Venediktov. On 1 March 2022, it was taken off the air by Roskomnadzor as a result of its coverage of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. On 3 March, the Board of Directors voted to close the station down. FCOT FM and previously as FCT-FM, Echo FM and Passion is a community radio station broadcast for four weeks each year from two studios at Farnborough College of Technology. The station's management, presentation and production teams are entirely composed of further and higher education students. Throughout its annual broadcast, FCOT FM operates a 24-hour music radio service with live presenters from 7am until 9pm every weekday. Originally operating a highly localised service, the station now covers the entire Rushmoor area with a broadcast radius of approximately fifteen miles. Echo 2012 was set to be the biggest and best yet with a refurb on everything including the logo. The station now runs 24/7 during its licence period and ran from 27 February 2012 until 30 March 2012, with new imaging, a new website and a new presenter line-up. "Echo" is the thirteenth episode and the season finale of the second season of the American television drama series ''The Americans'', and the 26th overall episode of the series. It originally aired on FX in the United States on May 21, 2014. Plot Philip and Elizabeth convince an anxious Fred to wear the special shoes into the factory, but he is challenged by a guard in the secure area and shot on his way out. He manages to leave the shoes in a dumpster as agreed and call Philip from a phone booth, but then dies of his wound. Stan learns that the Echo code is stored on a floppy disk in a safe, and after getting instructions and a promise of Nina's freedom from Arkady (Lev Gorn), he records the code with a spy camera.
