"Echo" is a song by Georgian singer Iru Khechanovi, released on 16 March 2023. The song represented Georgia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 after Khechanovi won the fifth season of ''The Voice Georgia'', Georgia's national selection to choose their artist for that year's Eurovision Song Contest. Competing in the second semi-final in that year's Eurovision Song Contest, the song failed to qualify for the grand final, finishing in 12th with 33 points. Background and composition In interviews, Iru reported that "Echo" took three to four days to write, and two to three weeks in order to complete the production for the song's release. Irina "Iru" Khechanovi (; born 3 December 2000), also known mononymously as Iru (stylised in all caps), is a Georgian singer and songwriter. As a member of the girl group Candy, she won the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2011 with the song "Candy Music". In 2023, she won the fifth season of ''The Voice Georgia'', therefore winning the right to represent Georgia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2023, to be held in Liverpool, United Kingdom. Biography Khechanovi was born on 3 December 2000 in Tbilisi. She is of Armenian descent. As a child, she took part in various singing competitions. Georgia participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 in Liverpool, United Kingdom. The Eurovision Song Contest 2023 is the upcoming 67th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest. The Voice Georgia (season 5)
The fifth season of the Georgian reality television series ''The Voice Georgia'' premiered on 8 December 2022 on 1TV. Stephane Mgebrishvili was the only coach returning from the previous season and Dato Porchkhidze returned after a two-season hiatus. Meanwhile, Sopo Toroshelidze and Dato Evgenidze debuted as coaches, and Gvantsa Daraselia debuted as the show's presenter. ''The Voice'' is an international reality television singing competition franchise. It is based on the reality singing competition ''The Voice of Holland'', which was originally created by Dutch producer John de Mol and Dutch singer Roel van Velzen.
