ASUN Conference
The ASUN Conference, formerly the Atlantic Sun Conference, is a collegiate athletic conference operating mostly in the Southeastern United States. The league participates at the NCAA Division I level, and began sponsoring football at the Division I FCS level in 2022. Originally established as the Trans America Athletic Conference (TAAC) in 1978, it was renamed as the Atlantic Sun Conference in 2001, and then rebranded as the ASUN Conference in 2016. Chris Prothro
Chris Prothro is an American baseball coach and former catcher, who is the current head baseball coach of the Eastern Kentucky Colonels. He played college baseball at Northwestern State, Crowder College and Arkansas State for coach Keith Kessinger from 2004 to 2005. Coaching career After his playing career ended, Prothro became an assistant baseball coach at North Iowa Area Community College, where he worked with hitters, catchers and outfielders. Following two seasons at North Iowa, he joined the coaching staff of the Nicholls State Colonels where he was on the staff of his former head coach at Crowder, Chip Durham. In July, 2015, Prothro was hired as the recruiting coordinator at South Alabama. Turkey Hughes Field
Turkey Hughes Field at Earle Combs Stadium is a baseball stadium in Richmond, Kentucky, United States. It is home to the Eastern Kentucky Colonels baseball team of the NCAA Division I Ohio Valley. The stadium opened in the 1966 and renovated in 2017, when it was renamed for EKU alumnus and former New York Yankee Earle Combs. Formerly, it was known simply as Turkey Hughes Field in honor of former Eastern Kentucky baseball coach Turkey Hughes. In 2006, EKU's athletic department announced plans to completely rebuild the stadium with a $2 million initiative. Eastern Kentucky University (Eastern or EKU) is a public university in Richmond, Kentucky. As a regional comprehensive institution, EKU also maintains branch campuses in Corbin, Hazard, Lancaster, and Manchester and offers over 40 online undergraduate and graduate options. Major League Baseball Draft
The first-year player draft is the primary mechanism of Major League Baseball (MLB) for assigning amateur baseball players from high schools, colleges, and other amateur baseball clubs to its teams. The following is a list of schools that participate in NCAA Division I baseball. In the 2022 season, 301 Division I schools competed. These teams compete to go to the 64-team Division I baseball tournament and then to Omaha, Nebraska, and Charles Schwab Field, for the eight-team Men's College World Series (MCWS).
