Eastbury, Berkshire
Eastbury is a small village in the valley of the River Lambourn in the English county of Berkshire. The village is situated on the old river level road from Newbury to Lambourn, and is east of Lambourn and west of East Garston. The village is situated in the civil parish of Lambourn, which is within the unitary authority of West Berkshire. Geography Eastbury has three Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) within close vicinity to the village, these are White Shute, Westfield Farm Chalk Bank and Cleeve Hill. River Lambourn Bernard's Ford on the River Lambourn is found to the west of the village, suitable only for tractors and horses, but there is also a footbridge. Here the river formed its banks in July 2007 and flowed down the Newbury Road for over a hundred yards before rejoining the river. Eastbury is a settlement in the Three Rivers (district), Three Rivers district of Hertfordshire, adjacent to the Greater London suburb of Northwood, London, Northwood in London Borough of Hillingdon, Hillingdon. Other settlements nearby include Moor Park, Hertfordshire, Moor Park and South Oxhey, and Eastbury is about equal distance between the Northwood and Moor Park tube stations (Metropolitan line). Northwood Headquarters is in Eastbury. The post town is Northwood. It is in the Three Rivers Ward of Moor Park and Eastbury Eastbury is served by Eastbury Farm JMI School. Eastbury Manor House
Eastbury Manor House is a Grade I listed building situated in the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham in Greater London, England. It dates to the Elizabethan period, although the land on which it was built was formerly part of the demesne of Barking Abbey. The house is owned by the National Trust but has been managed since the 1930s by the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham and its predecessors. It is open to public for 10 months of every year. History The land on which Eastbury House now stands was once part of the demesne of Barking Abbey. The house was built in the 1570s by Clement Sisley, a wealthy merchant, who purchased the land after the dissolution of Barking Abbey. It was probably the first brick built building in the area at that time; it had glass windows and very high chimneys, indicating the wealth of the owner.
