East Java Gubernatorial Election, 2018
The 2018 East Java gubernatorial election took place on 27 June 2018 as part of the simultaneous local elections. It was held to elect the governor of East Java along with their deputy, whilst members of the provincial council (''Dewan Perwakilan Rakyat Daerah'') will be re-elected in 2019. Incumbent Soekarwo was barred from participating in the re-elections after having served two full terms. Candidates were former cabinet minister Khofifah Indar Parawansa and sitting vice governor Saifullah Yusuf. The former won the election, securing over 53% of the votes. Timeline On September 10, the General Elections Commission declared a voter count of 30,963,078 in the province who are to vote in 68,511 polling stations. Tjahjo Kumolo
Tjahjo Kumolo (1 December 1957 – 1 July 2022) was an Indonesian politician. He served as Minister of Home Affairs in the Working Cabinet (2014–2019), and Minister of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform in the Onward Indonesia Cabinet from 2019 until his death, both under President Joko Widodo. He was a longtime loyalist of former president Megawati Sukarnoputri and a senior member of her Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P). Tjahjo Kumolo was Secretary General of PDI-P between 2010 and 2015, and was a member of the People's Representative Council (DPR) between 1999 and 2014 during which time he was the speaker of his party's faction until his replacement by later fellow minister Puan Maharani. The People's Conscience Party ( id, Partai Hati Nurani Rakyat), better known by its abbreviation, Hanura, is a political party in Indonesia. It was established following a meeting in Jakarta on 13–14 December 2006 and first headed by former Indonesian National Armed Forces commander Wiranto. The party lost its seats in parliament after a poor performance in the 2019 general election. The Gerindra Party (acronym for , ) is a political party in Indonesia. Formed in 2008, Gerindra serves as the political vehicle of former general Prabowo Subianto. It is presently the third-largest party in the House of Representatives, where it has 78 seats. The Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle ( id, Partai Demokrasi Indonesia Perjuangan, PDI-P) is an Indonesian political party, and the party of the current President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo. The PDI-P was founded and is currently led by Megawati Sukarnoputri, president of Indonesia from 2001 to 2004, and daughter of Sukarno, the first president of Indonesia.
