East Fremantle Football Club Hall Of Fame
The East Fremantle Football Club Hall of Fame was launched on 2 July 2012 when 52 inductees were celebrated during a dinner at the East Fremantle Football Club Social Hall. Despite being the most successful team in the West Australian Football League, the East Fremantle Football Club had never had a Hall of Fame, the closest being the 1997 Team of the Century, created to celebrate the club's 100th year. West Australian Football League
The West Australian Football League (WAFL) is an Australian rules football league based in Perth, Western Australia. The league currently consists of ten teams, which play each other in a 20-round season usually lasting from March to September, with the top five teams playing off in a finals series, culminating in a Grand Final. The league also runs reserves, colts (under-19) and women's competitions. The WAFL was founded in 1885 as the West Australian Football Association (WAFA), and has undergone a variety of name changes since then, re-adopting its current name in 2001. For most of its existence, the league was considered one of the traditional "big three" Australian rules football leagues, along with the Victorian Football League (VFL) and South Australian National Football League (SANFL). David Hollins
David John Hollins (born 15 February 1951) is a former Australian rules footballer who played 189 games for East Fremantle in the WANFL during the 1970s. Hollins, who favoured the drop kick, played as both a centreman and on-baller. Recruited to East Fremantle from South Bunbury, Hollins won a Sandover Medal in 1971 and was a member of their premiership team three years later. He was also East Fremantle's Club Champion that year and again in 1975. Doug Green (footballer)
Doug Green (born 28 October 1951) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for East Fremantle in the WANFL during the 1970s. He also spent a season with South Melbourne in the Victorian Football League. Green, a defender, was used mostly across half back from his East Fremantle debut in 1970. He won a Lynn Medal in 1973 as East Fremantle's 'Best and fairest' player and finished runner-up in the award on six occasions over the course of his career. Green was at centre half back in their 1974 premiership side and became club captain in 1975, replacing Graham Melrose. He played in his second premiership in 1979, with the Grand Final being his last game for East Fremantle. Despite announcing his retirement in 1979, he was lured back into action by South Melbourne whom he joined halfway through the 1980 VFL season. Graham Melrose
Graham Thomas Melrose (born 20 April 1949) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for the North Melbourne Football Club in the Victorian Football League (VFL) as well as for the East Fremantle Football Club and the Swan Districts Football Club in the Western Australian Football League (WAFL). Regarded as a competitive and skilful rover with particularly accurate foot passing, Melrose was unlucky to miss out on North Melbourne's premierships due to injury, but experienced success with both East Fremantle and Swan Districts. He later had brief coaching stints at the Sharks and Swans. Melrose is one of few footballers to be named in the Team of the Century at two different clubs. Trevor Sprigg
Trevor Raymond Sprigg (10 August 1946 – 17 January 2008) was an Australian politician and legislator from Western Australia, as well as a former football star. Sprigg, a member of the Liberal Party, was the Liberal Party legislative whip as well as the member for the electorate of Murdoch in the Western Australian Legislative Assembly. Sprigg was elected to his seat in the Western Australian general election in 2005. Personal life Sprigg was born in Wagin, Western Australian in 1946 and was widely known as a sports enthusiast and athlete. Ray Sorrell
Ray George Sorrell (born 1 January 1938) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with East Fremantle and South Fremantle in the West Australian National Football League (WANFL). A centreman, Sorrell achieved many accolades during his time at East Fremantle. He was a dual Sandover Medal winner, finishing equal first with Neville Beard in 1961 and then winning the award outright in 1963. The 1961 medal was given to Beard on countback but Sorrell was awarded it retrospectively in the 1990s when the league decided to reward those who had lost in a similar fashion. He was also a dual Simpson Medalist, winning both in 1962, one for being best on ground in the Grand Final that year and the other for performance against Tasmania in their interstate match. Norm Rogers (Australian Rules Footballer)
Norman Angus "Norm" Rogers (born 7 May 1937) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for East Fremantle in the West Australian National Football League (WANFL) during the 1950s and 1960s. Rogers was predominantly a defender and spent most of his time across half back. In 1959 he won East Fremantle's 'Best and Fairest' award and was a member of their premiership teams of 1957 and 1965. For his performance in the losing 1964 Grand Final to Claremont, Rogers won a Simpson Medal. He had a long interstate career with Western Australia and appeared in 27 matches at that level. Con Regan
Cornelius John "Con" Regan (30 September 1934 – 11 May 2007) was an Australian rules footballer for the East Fremantle Football Club in the West Australian National Football League (WANFL) from 1953 until 1965. He was the first East Fremantle player to play 250 games and represented Western Australia on 7 occasions, including the state's second ever National Carnival winning team in 1961. He played in the finals in every season that he played, including eight grand finals, but was only part of a successful premiership in 1957. Known primarily as a tough defender, he could also play forward, leading the East Fremantle goalkicking in 1955 with 65 goals. After retiring from WANFL football he continued to play and coach in Katanning and Donnybrook, where he was stationed as a police officer. John Kildahl "Stork" Clarke (26 June 1931 – 23 March 1997) was an Australian rules footballer in the (then) Western Australian National Football League (WANFL). Football Clarke played as a ruckman for East Fremantle, making his debut in 1952. In 1957 he won the Sandover Medal as the fairest and best player in the league as well as playing in a premiership-winning team. Percy Johnson
Percy John Johnson (28 January 1933 – 4 December 2021) was an Australian rules footballer and coach, who played 13 state matches for Western Australia and 228 games in the Western Australian National Football League (WANFL). He is a member of the West Australian Football Hall of Fame. Biography Johnson was raised in the Goldfields, and learnt football at Aquinas College under Jerry Dolan where he was used at centre-half back or as a forward. In 1951, he joined East Fremantle, where he became a ruckman due to a large number of quality defenders at the club. Johnson debuted for Western Australia against Victoria in 1955. In 1957, he won the WANFL premiership with East Fremantle.
