East Aleppo Offensive (2017)
The East Aleppo offensive (2017), also referred to as the Dayr Hafir offensive, was an operation launched by the Syrian Army to prevent Turkish-backed rebel forces from advancing deeper into Syria, and also to ultimately capture the ISIL stronghold of Dayr Hafir. Another aim of the operation was to gain control of the water source for Aleppo city, at the Khafsa Water Treatment Plant, in addition to capturing the Jirah Military Airbase. At the same time, the Turkish-backed rebel groups turned towards the east and started launching attacks against the Syrian Democratic Forces, west of Manbij. Hawar Kilis Operations Room
The Hawar Kilis Operations Room ( ar, غرفة عمليات حوار كلس, tr, Havar Kilis Operasyon Odası) is a Syrian rebel coalition formed in the village of Hawar Kilis in April 2016 in the northern Aleppo Governorate on the Syria–Turkey border. As part of the Syrian Train and Equip Program, many groups in the coalition were supplied with Thuraya satellite phones by the United States. The Manbij Revolutionaries Battalion ( ar, كتائب ثوار منبج, ku, Suwar el-Minbic, tr, Menbic Devrimci Taburları), also simply known as Manbij Revolutionaries ( ar, ثوار منبج), is a Syrian militia that is part of the Syrian Democratic Forces' Manbij Military Council and operates in the Aleppo Governorate. Suheil Salman al-Hassan ( ar, سُهَيْلُ سَلْمَانَ الْحَسَنِ, Suhayl Salmān al-Ḥasan) (born 10 June 1970), nicknamed The Tiger, is a Brigadier General in the Syrian Army, currently serving as commander of its elite Tiger Forces. He graduated from the Syrian Arab Air Force academy in 1991, and served in many units of the Syrian Arab Air Forces and Air Defence Command, completing several training courses.
