Earlville is a suburb of Cairns in the Cairns Region, Queensland, Australia. In the , Earlville had a population of 4,030 people. Geography Earlville is approximately 4 kilometres (2.5 miles) south-west of the Cairns City centre. The north-eastern part of the suburb is low-lying, less than above sea level but the land gradually rises towards the west becoming more mountainous in the western part of the suburb. Most of the residential land is in the centre and eastern parts of the suburb, while the more mountainous western part is undeveloped. Mulgrave Road goes through the suburb from the north-east ( Mooroobool / Bungalow) and then bends through the suburb to the south-east (Woree). Andrew Leon
Andrew Leon (circa 1841–1920) was a Chinese-born Australian businessman in northern Queensland, predominantly in the Cairns district. He established the Hap Wah plantation that pioneered the Cairns district sugarcane industry. He was the acknowledged leader of the Cairns Chinese community from the 1870s well into the 1890s. Early life Leon, the son of a Cantonese merchant, came from Zhongshan, China. As a young man he gained agricultural experience in Cuba where sugar production was a major industry. He migrated to the Colony of Queensland where he settled in 1866. The earliest known evidence of Leon was in Bowen, where he was baptised in 1868 at St Mary's Roman Catholic Church before his marriage to Irish-born Mary Piggott in that church in February 1869. Manunda is a suburb of Cairns in the Cairns Region, Queensland, Australia. In the , Manunda had a population of 5,390 people. Geography Manunda is a flat suburb (0–10 metres above sea level). The southern part of Manunda is residential while the northern part contains a number of community amenities including sportsgrounds and the Cairns Cemetery (also known as Martyn Street Cemetery). Trinity Bay State High is a co-educational high school in Manunda, Queensland, Australia. In 2015, it had an enrolment of about 1650 students across year levels 7 to 12. The school draws from the surrounding “three M” suburbs of Cairns ( Manoora, Manunda and Mooroobool), in addition to populations in surrounding mortgage belt suburbs.
