EHF Women's Champions League
The Women's EHF Champions League is the competition for the top women's handball clubs in Europe, organised annually by the European Handball Federation (EHF). It is the most prestigious tournament for clubs, with the champions of Europe's top national leagues participating. Tournament structure Each year, the EHF publishes a ranking list of its member federations. The first 27 nations are allowed to participate in the tournament with their national champion. The national federations are allowed to request extra places or upgrades from the EHF Cup. The EHF Champions League is divided into five stages. Depending on the ranking of their national federation and of the criteria list, teams can enter the competition in either qualification or the group phase. European Handball Federation
The European Handball Federation (EHF) is the umbrella organisation for European handball. Founded on 17 November 1991, it is made of 50 member federations and two associated federations (England and Scotland), and is headquartered in Vienna, Austria. History EHF was founded on 17 November 1991 in Berlin, Germany, although the first EHF Congress convened on 5 June 1992 and assigned EHF's headquarters to Vienna, Austria from 1 September that year. In 2012 the EHF Office celebrated 20 years since it first opened its doors. In the subsequent years, the number of member countries has expanded from the initial 29 to its current number of 50, after Kosovo was granted full membership at the EHF Congress in Dublin, Ireland in September 2014. CS Rapid București (handball)
CS Rapid București is a Romanian professional handball club based in Giulești, in the northwestern parts of Bucharest. Founded in 1934, they play their home games at the Sala Rapid. The club competes in the Liga Națională, the top division of Romanian handball. They won their first major honour, the League championship, in 1961. The club won the Romanian Cup for the first time in 2004, and their first European honour, the European Cup, in 1964. Rapid achieved the EHF treble. The 1966–67 Women's Handball European Cup was the seventh edition of the international competition for European women's handball national champion clubs, taking place from December 1966 to 2 April 1967. The title holder, SC Leipzig reached once again the final of the competition, but was defeated in the final by Žalgiris Kaunas. The 1965–66 Women's European Champions Cup was the 6th edition of the Europe's competition for national champions women's handball clubs, taking place from 9 January to 16 April 1966. HC Copenhague entered the competition as title holder, after beating in past season's final Budapesti Spartacus. Copenhague reached once again the final, but this year the Danish team was defeated by SC Leipzig. Rukometni Klub Lokomotiva Zagreb ( en, Lokomotiva Zagreb Handball Club) is a Croatian professional women's handball club from Zagreb. They are currently competing in the 2022–23 Women's EHF Champions League. Lokomotiva was the most successful team in the Yugoslav Championship's early stages, winning eight championships between 1956 and 1970. In 1975, the team reached the final of the European Cup after winning its ninth championship. However, the following fifteen years were unsuccessful, with Radnički Belgrade dominating the championship. The team resurfaced in 1991, winning both the final edition of the Yugoslav Championship and the EHF Cup, its first international trophy, beating Bayer Leverkusen in the final. Budapesti Spartacus Sport Club is a Hungarian women's handball team from Budapest, that play in the Nemzeti Bajnokság I/B, the second tier league in Hungary. The club was formed in 1954 and soon found themselves on the top. ''Spari'', as the fans call the team, have won all but one league titles between 1960 and 1967, and in addition, they have won two domestic cup titles in 1963 and 1968. They also enjoyed a good run in the European Champions Cup, having been marched to the finals in 1965, only to fall short against HG København. In the seventies the club have fallen back, and eventually slumped to relegation in 1975. However, the team promoted back immediately and under the guidance of head coach István Szabó a new success period has begun. The 1964–65 Women's Handball European Champions Cup was the fifth edition of the international competition for European women's handball national champion clubs, taking place from late 1964 to 16 April 1965. The number of contestants decreased from thirteen to ten due to the absences of Austria, Poland and Romania, so the qualifying stage was reduced from five ties to just two. Unlike the two previous editions, the final was carried out as a two-legged tie. HG Copenhague became the first team from the Western Bloc to win the competition in the third appearance in a row of the Danish representative in the final, while Budapesti Spartacus was the first Hungarian team to reach it. Eimsbütteler Turnverband is a German sports club based in Eimsbüttel, Hamburg. Apart from football, the club also offers a variety of other sports, like basketball, volleyball, and fencing.
