Ecolo
Ecolo, officially Écologistes Confédérés pour l'organisation de luttes originales'', (English: Confederate Ecologists for the Organisation of Original Struggles)'' is a French-speaking political party in Belgium based on green politics. The party is active in Wallonia, the Brussels-Capital Region, and the German-speaking Community of Belgium. Ecolo's Flemish equivalent is Groen; the two parties maintain close relations with each other. Name Ecolo is officially a backronym for ''Écologistes Confédérés pour l'organisation de luttes originales'' "Confederated Ecologists for the Organisation of Original Struggles", but is really just short for ''écologistes'', French for environmentalists. Global Greens
The Global Greens (GG) is an international network of political parties and movements which work to implement the Global Greens Charter. It consists of various national Green political parties, partner networks, and other organizations associated with green politics. Formed in 2001 at the First Global Greens Congress, the network has grown to include 76 full member parties and 11 observers and associate parties as of May 2022, so a total of 87 members. It is governed by a 12-member steering committee called the Global Greens Coordination, and each member party falls under the umbrella of one of four affiliated regional green federations. The Parliament of Wallonia (french: Parlement de Wallonie) (Walloon Parliament (french: Parlement wallon) in the decrees) is the legislative body of Wallonia, one of the three self-governing regions of Belgium (the other two being Flanders and the Brussels-Capital Region). 2010 Belgian General Election
Federal elections were held in Belgium on 13 June 2010, during the midst of the 2007-11 Belgian political crisis. After the fall of the previous Leterme II Government over the withdrawal of Open Flemish Liberals and Democrats (Open VLD) from the government the King dissolved the legislature and called new elections. The Nieuw-Vlaamse Alliantie, New Flemish Alliance, led by Bart De Wever, emerged as the Plurality (voting), plurality party with 27 seats, just one more than the francophone Socialist Party (francophone Belgium), Socialist Party, led by Elio Di Rupo, which was the largest party in the Wallonia region and Brussels. Rajae Maouane (born 3 July 1989) is a Belgian politician who serves as co-president of Ecolo. Biography Rajae Maouane was born on 3 July 1989 in Uccle to a family of Moroccan Belgians. Her father was a laborer and her mother was a homemaker. Maouane completed her secondary studies in Laeken was passionate about football. During her studies at the Institut supérieur for social training and communications, Maouane worked as an press secretary and project manager for the Brussels Intercommunal Transport Company. 2007 Belgian General Election
Federal elections were held in Belgium on 10 June 2007. Voters went to the polls in order to elect new members for the Chamber of Representatives and Senate. Eligible voters were Belgian citizens 18 years and older. There was a legal electoral threshold of 5% for political parties to meet to receive representation, but in several election districts the real electoral threshold is higher than the legal, due to the small number of seats to be elected in the particular district. The 150 members of the Chamber of Representatives were elected from 11 electoral districts. The 40 Senate members were elected from the Dutch (25) and Francophone (15) electoral colleges. Groen (English: Green; nl, Groen, ), founded as Agalev (see Name below), is a green Flemish political party in Belgium. Its French-speaking equivalent is Ecolo; the two parties maintain close relations with each other. Party history Before 1979 Many of the founders of political party Agalev came from or were inspired by the social movement Agalev. This movement was founded by the Jesuit Luc Versteylen, who had founded the environmental movement Agalev in the 1970s. Core values of this social movement were quiet, solidarity and soberness.
