E-lux
''E-lux'' is the sole studio album by American band Human Waste Project. After signing to Hollywood Records in June 1996, Human Waste Project set about recording an album with producer Ross Robinson. Stylistically, ''e-lux'' was inspired by horror movies and has been described as nu metal, alternative metal and alternative rock. The album's original title was "'' Electralux''", but was changed to "''e-lux''" due to copyright infringement. ''e-lux'' had a troubled development, and the album was delayed multiple times from its planned March 1997 release date due to record company problems to May and June 10, before eventually being released on September 30, 1997. e''-lux'' was met with extremely positive reviews. The album was largely acclaimed by European publications, and as a result the album was eventually issued there in March 1998. Human Waste Project was an American rock band from Huntington Beach, California, with Aimee Echo on vocals, Mike Tempesta on guitar, Jeff Schartoff on bass, and Scott Ellis on drums. They released one studio album, '' E-lux'' (1997), and broke up soon after. History Friends Jeff Schartoff and Scott Ellis, while on the way to Lollapalooza, decided to start a band. They then drafted Aimee Echo as vocalist after asking if she could scream. They initially also had another vocalist, Michael Walsh, who departed from the group in 1994, leaving Echo as the sole vocalist. John Monte joined as guitarist but did not last long and they went through a string of guitarists, one of whom was John Chase of Cellophane before finding Mike Tempesta. The group began opening for large name bands such as Sublime, Helmet, Deftones, and Korn and struck a deal with Hollywood Records. Ross Robinson (born February 13, 1967) is an American record producer who discovered acts such as Korn, Glassjaw, The Blood Brothers, Slipknot, and Limp Bizkit. Robinson has also worked with Tech N9ne, The Cure, Sepultura, and many others. Biography The son of Bob Robinson and inspirational speaker Byron Katie, Robinson began as a thrash metal guitarist for the bands Detente and Murdercar (featuring future Machine Head drummer Dave McClain) and picked up his knowledge of producing from the studios where his band recorded demos and also worked at Blackie Lawless's studio, Fort Apache, in Burbank, CA. ''Kerrang!'' is a British weekly magazine devoted to rock, punk and heavy metal music, currently published by Wasted Talent (the same company that owns electronic music publication ''Mixmag''). It was first published on 6 June 1981 as a one-off supplement in the ''Sounds'' newspaper. Named after the onomatopoeic word that derives from the sound made when playing a power chord on a distorted electric guitar, ''Kerrang!'' was initially devoted to the new wave of British heavy metal and the rise of hard rock acts. In the early 2000s, it became the best-selling British music weekly. History ''Kerrang!'' was founded in 1981. Jane's Addiction is an American rock band from Los Angeles, formed in 1985. The band consists of vocalist Perry Farrell, guitarist Dave Navarro, drummer Stephen Perkins and bassist Eric Avery. Jane's Addiction was one of the first bands from the early 1990s alternative rock movement to gain both mainstream media attention and commercial success in the United States. Heavy metal (or simply metal) is a genre of rock music that developed in the late 1960s and early 1970s, largely in the United Kingdom and United States. With roots in blues rock, psychedelic rock and acid rock, heavy metal bands developed a thick, monumental sound characterized by distortion (music), distorted guitars, extended guitar solos, emphatic Beat (music), beats and loudness. No Doubt is an American rock band from Anaheim, California, formed in 1986. For most of their career, the band has consisted of vocalist Gwen Stefani, guitarist Tom Dumont, bassist Tony Kanal, and drummer Adrian Young. Since the mid-1990s, they were supported by trombonist and keyboardist Gabrial McNair and trumpeter and keyboardist Stephen Bradley in live performances.
