Dôme is a franchise chain of European-style café restaurants based in Perth, Western Australia. It has over 65 cafés in Australia, with most in Western Australia. Dôme has also developed a number of locations in Darwin, Northern Territory, Darwin, in addition the chain had previously opened stores in Tasmania, as well as internationally, including the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia, Bahrain, and at the Hulhumale in the Maldives. History It was founded by Patria Jefferies, Phil May (athlete), Phil May and Phil Sexton in 1990. The initial outlet was established in Napoleon Street, Cottesloe in the early 1990s. By the early 2000s it was a significant player in the larger Australian market. There are now over 130 Dôme cafés in about eight countries. Maylands, Western Australia
Maylands is a riverside inner-city suburb approximately northeast of Perth centred on the Midland railway line on the northern bank of the Swan River. The suburb was developed during the 1890s and is an administrative locality within the City of Bayswater (having been mostly within the City of Stirling until 1998), bordered by the suburbs of Mount Lawley, East Perth and Bayswater. Maylands railway station provides easy access to the City centre and beyond. The railway line was originally built in the 1880s, and the railway station was extensively refurbished in 2000. Recently a shared bicycle / pedestrian path was built to link Maylands with neighbouring suburbs via the shoreline of the Swan River. There is also a small yacht club and a golf course. Maylands was once a source of clay for brick and tile making at Maylands Brickworks, and the pits from these activities are now part of a golf course and residential area. Peninsula Hotel, Maylands
The Peninsula Hotel is a heritage-listed former hotel in Maylands, Western Australia. Located at 221 Railway Parade, opposite Maylands railway station, it was constructed by owner Friederich Liebe. The historic Edwardian-style hotel was saved from demolition in the 1970s, becoming a space for several community groups, and later a Dôme cafe. History The Peninsula Hotel was constructed in 1906 to serve the rapidly growing population of Maylands. The area had flourished following the opening of a station on the Midland railway line, , which serviced Mephan Ferguson's factory which made pipes for the Goldfields Water Supply Scheme. The builder and owner of the hotel was Friederich Liebe, a well-known builder who had previously worked on Queen's Hall and His Majesty's Theatre.
