Dysna
The Dysna ( be, Дзісна ''Dzisna''; russian: Дисна ''Disna'') is a river that flows through Lithuania and Belarus into the Daugava River near the town of Dzisna. The river originates from Lake Parsvėtas, near Dūkštas, Ignalina district municipality. It flows through Lake Dysnai and Lake Dysnykštis. Near Kačergiškės it turns east and for 39 km flows on the Lithuanian-Belarusian border. The length in Lithuania is 17 km. Lake Dysnai
The Lake Dysnai is the second largest lake in Lithuania. With average depth of only it is one of the shallowest lakes in Lithuania. It is located in the Ignalina district municipality, about south from Dūkštas city. Dūkštas Train Station is the closest train station to the Lake Dysnai (route Vilnius-Turmantas). It is approximately a 2 hours ride by train from Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania. Dysnai is connected with the Lake Dysnykštis. Birvėta
Birvėta ( be, Бірвета) is a river in eastern Lithuania and Belarus (Vitebsk Region). It is a right tributary of Dysna. The river starts near the Kirkučiai village, Sirvėta Regional Park, Švenčionys District. It flows north passing through the Kančioginas lake. From there, it flows north and east through the Ignalina District. Up to its confluence with the Erzvėtas lake, the river is known as Kančiogina. Next again flowing east, flows through swampy areas and passes by fishing ponds. After , Birvėta crosses the Belarus–Lithuania border and forms a natural border between the Pastavy and Braslaw Districts. It empties into the Dysna at from Dysna's estuary to the south of Kaziany. Avuta
The Avuta ( be, Авута ''Avuta''; russian: Аута ''Auta'') is a river that flows through Belarus into the Dysna near the village of Bychinshchina. The river flows from Lake Povvuto on the outskirts of the Sventsyan ridges, then flows along the Polotsk Lowland. The main tributaries: Nekhrist and Istyanka (right), Ulinets (left). It flows into the Dysna 3 km south-west of the city of Dzisna shortly before the confluence of the Dysna itself to the Western Dvina. The valley is trapezoidal, width 150–250 m. Dzisna
Dzisna ( be, Дзісна, russian: Дисна, lt, Dysna, pl, Dzisna) is a town in the Vitebsk Region of Belarus. It is located on the left bank of the Daugava River, near the confluence of Dysna. It has 1,500 inhabitants (2017 estimate) which has declined as in the 20th century it had close to 10,000 inhabitants. Dzisna is the smallest town of Belarus. Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant
The Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant ( lt, Ignalinos atominė elektrinė, IAE) is a decommissioned two-unit RBMK-1500 nuclear power station in Visaginas Municipality, Lithuania. It was named after the nearby city of Ignalina. Due to the plant's similarities to the infamous Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant in both reactor design and lack of a robust containment building, Lithuania agreed to close the plant as part of its accession agreement to the European Union. Unit 1 was closed in December 2004; Unit 2, which counted for 25% of Lithuania's electricity generating capacity and supplied about 70% of Lithuania's electrical demand, was closed on December 31, 2009. Proposals have been made to construct a new nuclear power plant at the same site, but plans have not materialised since then.
