Dyersburg Deers
The Dyersburg Deers were a Minor League Baseball team that played in Dyersburg, Tennessee, from 1923 to 1925. They were members of the Class D Kentucky–Illinois–Tennessee League (KITTY League) from 1923 to 1924 during which time they were known as the Dyersburg Forked Dears. They played as simply the Dyersburg Deers in the Class D Tri-State League in 1925. Their home games were played at Scot's Field. Over three seasons of competition, Dyersburg accumulated a regular season record of 170–141 (.547). They won the KITTY League championship in both 1923 and 1924. Their postseason record was 8–2 (.800). History The Dyersburg Forked Deers began competition in 1923 as members of the Class D Kentucky–Illinois–Tennessee League. Blytheville Tigers
Blytheville is the county seat and the largest city in Mississippi County, Arkansas, United States. It is approximately north of West Memphis. The population was 13,406 at the 2020 census, down from 15,620 in 2010. History Blytheville was founded by Methodist clergyman Henry T. Blythe in 1879. It received a post office the same year, was incorporated in 1889, and became the county seat for the northern half of Mississippi County (Chickasawba District) in 1901. Blytheville received telephone service and electricity in 1903, and natural gas service in 1950. Elmer Russell "Jack" Knight (January 12, 1895 – July 30, 1976) was an American right-handed pitcher in Major League Baseball. Born in Pittsboro, Mississippi, he played from 1922 to 1927, pitching in 72 games for the St. Louis Cardinals, Philadelphia Phillies and Boston Braves. He worked as a minor-league manager for the Cleveland Indians, Brooklyn Dodgers, and Chicago Cubs for several years after his playing career ended. The Paris Parisians were a Minor League Baseball team that played in the Class D Kentucky–Illinois–Tennessee League (KITTY League) from 1922 to 1924. They were located in Paris, Tennessee, and played their home games at Barton Field. The team was known as the Paris Travelers in the 1922 season, but they played as the Parisians from 1923 to 1924. History The team began competition in 1922 as the Paris Travelers playing at Barton Field. They opened their inaugural season on May 16 with a 10–0 home win against the Fulton Railroaders. Managed by Tuffy Fowlkes, the Travelers won the second half of the split season after several games involving the Cairo Egyptians, Hopkinsville Hoppers, and Madisonville Miners were thrown out.
