Dwayne Lowdermilk
Dwayne Kenneth Lowdermilk (born January 9, 1958) is a Canadian retired ice hockey defenceman who played two games in the National Hockey League for the Washington Capitals. He was originally drafted by the New York Islanders in the 1978 NHL Entry Draft. Lowdermilk was born in Burnaby, British Columbia. Defence or defense (in American English) in ice hockey is a player position that is primarily responsible for preventing the opposing team from Goal (ice hockey), scoring. They are often referred to as defencemen, D, D-men or blueliners (the latter a reference to the blue line in ice hockey which represents the boundary of the offensive zone; defencemen generally position themselves along the line to keep the puck in the zone). Minor hockey is an umbrella term for amateur ice hockey which is played below the junior age level. Players are classified by age, with each age group playing in its own league. The rules, especially as it relates to body contact, vary from class to class. In North America, the rules are governed by the national bodies, Hockey Canada and USA Hockey, while local hockey associations administer players and leagues for their region.
