Dutch Military Proficiency Badge
The Dutch Military Proficiency Badge (Dutch: ''Militaire Lichamelijke Vaardigheid'' or ''MLV'') is a military badge offered by the Royal Netherlands Army. Requirements * 1000 m sprint (To be completed with helmet and rifle) * 5000 m run * Hand grenade throwing * Rope climbing * Cat crawling * Obstacle Course Completion of these requirements qualifies a candidate for the plain bronze badge. Aquatic option In addition to the requirements for the badge, an aquatic option is available for the Dutch Military Proficiency Badge. Completion of the aquatic option is indicated with a blue enamel field on the badge. The Royal Netherlands Army ( nl, Koninklijke Landmacht) is the land branch of the Netherlands Armed Forces. Though the Royal Netherlands Army was raised on 9 January 1814, its origins date back to 1572, when the was raised – making the Dutch standing army one of the oldest in the world. It fought in the Napoleonic Wars, World War II, the Indonesian War of Independence, and the Korean War and served with NATO on the Cold War frontiers in West-Germany from the 1950s to the 1990s. The German Armed Forces Badge for Military Proficiency (german: Das Abzeichen für Leistungen im Truppendienst) is a decoration of the Bundeswehr, the armed forces of the Federal Republic of Germany. The decoration is awarded to and worn by German service members of all ranks. Allied service members may also be awarded the badge, subject to their nations' uniform regulations. In the United States Army, the German Armed Forces Badge for Military Proficiency is one of several hundred foreign awards approved for wear on the uniform. The European Police Achievement Badge (German: ''Europäisches Polizei Leistungsabzeichen (EPLA)'') (French: ''Brevet Sportif du Policier Européen'') is a decoration offered by the ''European Police Sports Association'' (Union Sportive des Polices d'Europe, USPE). It is awarded for proficiency in marksmanship, swimming, and running. The award may be worn as a badge or as a ribbon. History In 1982 the member states of the USPE decided to establish the European Police Achievement Badge in order to promote unity among the European police services and as an incentive for sports in police services.
