SouthWest Cyclops were a Canadian professional indoor lacrosse team that played in the Canadian Lacrosse League. The team, originally named the Brampton Inferno, played their 2015 season in Paris, Ontario. History The team ownership was confirmed on June 19, 2011 and the team was scheduled to start play in 2012. The original Canadian Lacrosse League saw two teams in Brampton, the Inferno and the Peel Avengers, now the Niagara Lock Monsters, two teams in Six Nations, the Iroquois Ironmen and the Ohsweken Demons, and two teams in Oshawa, the Oshawa Machine, and the Durham TurfDogs. Ohsweken Demons were a Canadian professional indoor lacrosse team that played in the Canadian Lacrosse League. The Demons played out of the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena in Hagersville, Ontario. History The Ohsweken Demons played their first game ever on January 7, 2012, at home, in Hagersville, Ontario. The Demons defeated the Oshawa Machine 19-13. Ohsweken finished the 2012 regular season with an 8-6 record, placing them 3rd in the CLax standings. In the first round of playoff action the Demons would face the second-seeded Brampton Inferno, who also finished the season with an 8-6 record. Chris Attwood would score the decisive goal to give Ohsweken the 17-16 victory. In the Creators' Cup championship, the Demons would face the Iroquois Ironmen in an all native match-up. Toronto Shooting Stars were an indoor soccer team based in Toronto, Ontario that competed in the defunct NPSL. The team began play in the 1996-1997 season, with home games taking place at Maple Leaf Gardens. However, the ownership of the franchise collapsed just 3 games into its first season, forcing the league to take control of the team's operations for the remainder of the season. After losses of nearly $1 million, the team suspended operations for the 1997-1998 season. It was reported that the owner of the Toronto Maple Leafs held negotiations to purchase the team, but it never returned to play. GM Centre
The Tribute Communities Centre, formerly known as the General Motors Centre or GM Centre, GMC for short, is a multi-purpose arena located in downtown Oshawa, Ontario, Canada, which opened in November 2006. The arena was constructed to replace the Oshawa Civic Auditorium. Niagara Lock Monsters are a Canadian professional indoor lacrosse team that play in the Canadian Lacrosse League. The Lock Monsters play out of the Meridian Centre in St. Catharines, Ontario. History The Peel Avengers were founded in the summer of 2011 in Brampton, Ontario. The Avengers played their first game ever on January 7, 2012 in Hagersville, Ontario. The Avengers defeated Durham TurfDogs 16-9 to pick up their first win in franchise history. The Avengers would finish the 2012 campaign with a 5-9 record landing them in last place with only 10 pts.
