Durham College Rowing
Durham College Rowing (commonly abbreviated to DCR) represents all sixteen college boat clubs in Durham University, encompassing approximately half of the rowers, scullers and coxes in the region of North East England. As well as organising trailers to competitions off the River Wear, DCR also organises inter-collegiate events, coaching and launch-driving courses, swim tests, and implement and enforce the regulations as set out by the Durham University Rowing Board. DCR also provides a forum for college captains to meet and discuss current rowing events, particularly safety issues, with each other and with the executive committee. The executive committee consists of the captain of colleges, who represents college rowers at a university and regional level, a coaching coordinator, who arranges coaching and launch driving courses, and also a treasurer, secretary and press officer. South College is a Colleges of Durham University, college of Durham University, which accepted its first students in autumn 2020. It is located in new buildings at Mount Oswald on Elvet Hill, to the south of Durham City, adjoining Van Mildert College, Durham, Van Mildert College and John Snow College, Durham, John Snow College. History The site was originally part of the grounds of Mount Oswald, a country house built in 1800. In 1928, the house and grounds were converted to a golf club, which closed in 2014 and was acquired for residential development. Josephine Butler College
Josephine Butler College is a college at Durham University. It is located at the Howlands Farm site next to residences of Stephenson College, Durham, Stephenson College. In the centre of the college is a grass-covered hill, called "The Mound." It is a fully self-catered college of the university with facilities far more modern than many of the existing undergraduate colleges in Durham, England, Durham (the newest of which was opened in 1972, with South College, Durham, South College opening in 2020) and all rooms are en-suite. The college bar is the largest of all the college bars in Durham. The college has extensive leisure facilities including a library, study spaces, sports hall, outdoor tennis court and music room. John Snow College
John Snow College is one of 17 constituent colleges of the University of Durham in England. The College takes its name from the nineteenth-century Yorkshire physician John Snow. It was founded in 2001 on the University's Queen's Campus in Stockton-on-Tees, before moving to Durham in 2018. The College is now located on the Mount Oswald site, which opened in 2020.
