''Dungeons & Dragons'' retro-clones are fantasy role-playing games that emulate earlier editions of '' Dungeons & Dragons'' (''D&D'') no longer supported by Wizards of the Coast. They are made possible by the release of later editions' rules in a System Reference Document under the terms of the Open Game License, which allow the use of much of the proprietary terminology of ''D&D'' that might otherwise collectively constitute copyright infringement. The ''Expert Set'' is an expansion boxed set for the '' Dungeons & Dragons'' fantasy role-playing game. It was first published in 1981 as an expansion to the '' Basic Set''. Having been told that Greyhawk was reserved for '' Advanced Dungeons & Dragons'', Schick and Moldvay decided to use their own setting of Mystara specifically around The Known World area which resembled 15th century Europe. Chick Tract
Chick tracts are short evangelical gospel tracts, originally created by American publisher and religious cartoonist Jack Chick in the 1960s. The ENNIE Awards (previously stylized as ENnie Awards) are awards for role-playing game (RPG) products (including game-related accessories, publications, and art) and their creators. The awards were created in 2001 by Russ Morrissey of EN World in partnership with Eric Noah's Unofficial D&D Third Edition News. The ceremony has been hosted at Gen Con in Indianapolis since 2002. Since 2018, EN World is no longer associated with the awards. The ENNIES comprise two rounds. In the first round, publishers submit their products for nomination. Dice (singular die or dice) are small, throwable objects with marked sides that can rest in multiple positions. Fantasy tropes are a specific type of literary tropes (recurring themes) that occur in fantasy fiction. Worldbuilding, plot, and characterization have many common conventions, many of them having ultimately originated in myth and folklore. J. R. R.
