Dune (1984 Film)
''Dune'' is a 1984 American epic science-fiction film written and directed by David Lynch and based on the 1965 Frank Herbert novel of the same name. The film stars Kyle MacLachlan (in his film debut) as young nobleman Paul Atreides. It was filmed at the Churubusco Studios in Mexico City and included a soundtrack by the rock band Toto, as well as by Brian Eno. Set in the distant future, the film chronicles the conflict between rival noble families as they battle for control of the extremely harsh desert planet Arrakis, also known as "Dune". The planet is the only source of the drug melange (spice), which allows prescience and is vital to space travel, making it the most essential and valuable commodity in the universe. Jack Nance
Marvin John Nance (December 21, 1943 – December 30, 1996), known professionally as Jack Nance, was an American actor. A longtime collaborator of filmmaker David Lynch, Nance portrayed the lead in Lynch's directorial film debut ''Eraserhead'' (1977). He continued to work with Lynch throughout his career, including as a series regular on the ABC mystery drama ''Twin Peaks'' (1990–1991). Antony Gibbs (sometimes credited as Tony Gibbs; 17 October 1925 – 26 February 2016) was an English film and television editor with more than 40 feature film credits. He was a member of the American Cinema Editors (ACE). Career Gibbs' editing career began in the mid-1950s as an assistant to Ralph Kemplen and to Alan Osbiston, and through them he became involved with the brief " New Wave" of British filmmaking at its beginnings.
