Dundee Stars
The Dundee Stars are a professional ice hockey team based in the Scottish city of Dundee. They were formed in 2001 and play their home games at the Dundee Ice Arena, situated off the city's main Kingsway dual carriageway. The current title sponsor of the team is 'Trade-Mart'. The team currently play in the top professional UK-wide Elite Ice Hockey League and have previously played in others including the British National League, Scottish National League and The Northern League. In joining the Elite League, they are one of three Scottish teams playing in the competition, alongside Glasgow Clan and Fife Flyers. Formed in 2003 following the demise of the Ice Hockey Superleague, it is the highest level of ice hockey competition in the United Kingdom. The league operate three competitions for members; the play-offs determine the national champion for the season, following a regular season league competition for which separate champions are also crowned, and which selects and seeds the teams in the play-offs. Finally, a stand-alone cup competition, the Challenge Cup, is also held annually, beginning with the group stages followed by a knock-out format. 2012–13 EIHL Season
The 2012–13 Elite Ice Hockey League season was the tenth season of the Elite Ice Hockey League. The regular season began on Saturday 8 September 2012 and ended on Sunday 24 March 2013, followed by the Play-Offs which culminated in the end-of-season Play-Off Finals on Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 April 2013. This season saw the introduction of a new two conference format, in which the ten participating teams were split into two conferences of five teams. Solway Sharks
The Solway Sharks are the only senior ice hockey club in South West Scotland or Cumbria and play out of Dumfries Ice Bowl, King Street, Dumfries, Scotland. In the 2015–16 season the Sharks played in the English National Ice Hockey League North's Moralee Conference (Division One) and in the Challenge Cup. Home games are played at Dumfries Ice Bowl on Saturday evenings with a 7pm face-off. The Sharks were formed in 1998 and in their lifetime have won a host of trophies including two Northern League championships, one Northern League Play-Off title, six St. Andrew's Cups and two Scottish Cups to name but a few. Jeff Hutchins
Jeff Hutchins (born April 23, 1978) is a Canadian-British former professional ice hockey left winger who is currently an Associate coach for the Fife Flyers of the Elite Ice Hockey League. Hutchins played in the EIHL for the Coventry Blaze, Belfast Giants, Newcastle Vipers, Edinburgh Capitals, Sheffield Steelers and Dundee Stars. He also played for the Great Britain national ice hockey team. Hutchins was player-coach of the Dundee Stars between 2012 and 2015. He retired as a player in 2015 after becoming head coach of China Dragon in Asia League Ice Hockey. Ahead of the 2016-17 season, Hutchins joined the Fife Flyers Fife Flyers is the oldest professional ice hockey club in the UK, established in 1938. Dan Ceman
Dan Ceman (born July 25, 1973) is a Canadian professional ice hockey coach and a former ice hockey player. He is currently the head coach of Slovak HC Košice. Playing career Born in Windsor, Ontario and has Slovak descent, with grandparents originating from Novosad in Eastern Slovakia. Ceman attended the University of Windsor before turning pro in 1997. He first played for AHL’s Kentucky Thoroughblades. In the 1997-98 season he was instrumental in the Hampton Roads Admirals’ run to the ECHL championship title, the following season, he won the Calder Cup with the Providence Bruins. Ceman then took his game overseas, joining the Sheffield Steelers of the British Ice Hockey Superleague for the 1999-00 campaign. He remained in England until 2003, spending the next three years with the Bracknell Bees. Tony Hand
Anthony Hand MBE (born 15 August 1967) is a Scottish former ice hockey player and coach. He was the first British player to be drafted by an NHL team when he was picked by the Edmonton Oilers in 1986. Nicknamed ''Two point Tony'', he holds several national records, and scored over 4000 points in his career, more than any professional hockey player at any level. Still over a point-per-game scorer deep into his forties, Hand retired after the 2015 EPIHL league finals, after his Manchester Phoenix team lost. Hand served as the head coach of the Great Britain national team, a position he assumed in 2011 and resigned from in 2013. Until the franchise folded in January 2017, he was the coach of the Manchester Phoenix. In 2017, Hand was honored by the International Ice Hockey Federation with the Torriani Award. 2021–22 EIHL Season
The 2021–22 EIHL season was the 18th season of the Elite Ice Hockey League. The regular season commenced on 25 September 2021, and finished on 17 April 2022, with the playoffs taking place over the following two weekends. The previous campaign in 2020–21 was suspended indefinitely in September 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic in the United Kingdom; a reduced Elite Series was held in April and May 2021, involving the Sheffield Steelers, the Nottingham Panthers, the Coventry Blaze and the Manchester Storm, to provide competitive ice time for players ahead of the 2021 IIHF World Championship. 2019–20 EIHL Season
The 2019–20 EIHL season was the 17th season of the Elite Ice Hockey League. The regular season commenced on 7 September 2019 and was due to end on 29 March 2020, with the playoffs following in April 2020. The reigning league champions were the Belfast Giants, who won the title on the final day of the regular season, in 2018–19. On 13 March 2020, two weekends before the regular season was due to end, league officials cancelled all remaining matches due to be held; this was as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic in the United Kingdom. 2018–19 EIHL Season
The 2018–19 EIHL season was the 16th season of the Elite Ice Hockey League. The regular season commenced on 8 September 2018 and ended on 31 March 2019, with the playoffs following in April 2019. The two-time reigning league champions were the Cardiff Devils, who won both the regular season and playoff titles in 2017–18. The Devils were unable to make it three regular season titles in succession, after a season-long battle for the top position with the Belfast Giants. The league title came down to the final day of the regular season; the Coventry Blaze's 3–1 victory over the Devils at the Coventry Skydome handed the league title to the non-playing Giants, on a regulation wins (by 39 to 38) tie-break. The 2017–18 EIHL season was the 15th season of the Elite Ice Hockey League. The regular season commenced on 9 September 2017 and ended on 25 March 2018. The reigning league champions were the Cardiff Devils, who won the championship for the first time in 2016–17. The Devils retained their regular season title, with a 3–2 victory away at the Belfast Giants on 16 March 2018. 2016–17 EIHL Season
The 2016–17 Elite Ice Hockey League season was the 14th season of the Elite Ice Hockey League. The regular season begun in early September and ended in March. Regular season champion Cardiff Devils were defeated in the playoff final by their Erhardt Conference rivals Sheffield Steelers 6–5 in double-overtime. From the 2016–17 season, the number of non British-trained players rose from 13 to 14, while the number of work-permit players remained at 11, according to a rule change first introduced in 2014.
