Dundee, New York
Dundee is a village in Yates County, New York, United States. The population was 1,725 at the 2010 census. The name was taken from Dundee, the city in Scotland with a population of 148,260. The Village of Dundee is in the Town of Starkey. The village is in the Finger Lakes Region of New York, halfway between Elmira and Geneva. Dundee Airport (D48) is located northeast of the village. History The community was known early by the name "Plainview". At first, the village did not thrive due to competition from another neighboring community, "Eddytown", but eventually prevailed over its rival. Around 1834, residents began to seek a new name for the village and, persuaded by a native of Scotland, named the village "Dundee". He then moved to Illinois and persuaded the natives of his new home to rename their community "Dundee". In 1859, 1860, and 1861, the village was severely damaged by fires. Geneva is a City (New York), city in Ontario County, New York, Ontario and Seneca County, New York, Seneca counties in the U.S. state of New York (state), New York. New York State Route 230 (NY 230) is a state highway in the Finger Lakes region of New York in the United States. NY 230 is an east–west highway between the eastern edge of Steuben County to the interior of adjacent Yates County. The western terminus of NY 230 is the community of Keuka in the town of Wayne on the edge of Keuka Lake at NY 54. New York State Route 14A
New York State Route 14A (NY 14A) is a north–south state highway located in the Finger Lakes region of New York in the United States. It extends for from an interchange with NY 14 in the Schuyler County town of Reading to an intersection with U.S. Route 20 (US 20) and NY 5 west of the Ontario County city of Geneva. In between, the two-lane route serves Yates County and the village of Penn Yan, located at the northeastern tip of Keuka Lake. Outside of Penn Yan, NY 14A traverses rural, rolling terrain dominated by farmland. The route runs parallel to and west of NY 14 for its entire route between the Watkins Glen and Geneva areas. Seneca Lake (New York)
Seneca Lake is the largest of the glacial Finger Lakes of the U.S. state of New York, and the deepest glacial lake entirely within the state. It is promoted as being the lake trout capital of the world, and is host of the National Lake Trout Derby.
