Dundas Land District is a land district (cadastral division) of Western Australia within the Eucla Land Division. It spans roughly 31°40'S - 32°40'S in latitude and 121°00'E - 122°15'E in longitude. Ngalbain Land District
The lands administrative divisions of Western Australia refer to subdivisions of the state of Western Australia for cadastral (land title) purposes, most of which have been in place since the 19th century. Coolgardie, Western Australia
Coolgardie is a small town in Western Australia, east of the state capital, Perth. It has a population of approximately 850 people. Although Coolgardie is now known to most Western Australians as a tourist town and a mining ghost town, it was once the third largest town in Western Australia (after Perth and Fremantle). At this time, mining of alluvial gold was a major industry and supplied the flagging economy with new hope. Princess Royal, Western Australia
Princess Royal is an abandoned town in the Goldfields–Esperance region in Western Australia. It was named after a gold mine that was the basis for the town. The mine was named after Victoria, Princess Royal, eldest daughter of Queen Victoria. A rich gold reef was discovered in the area in the 1895 by a party of prospectors – Chester, Peddler and Flanagan. Dundas, Western Australia
Dundas is the name of an abandoned town in the Goldfields-Esperance Region of Western Australia. The town is located about south of Norseman. Dundas was the location of an early gold find in the region in 1894. The town was gazetted on 22 May 1895 and derives its name from the Dundas Hills which, in turn, were named after Captain James Whitley Deans Dundas of the Royal Navy ship in 1848. The population of the town was 99 (71 males and 28 females) in 1898. Buldania, Western Australia
Buldania is an abandoned town north-east of Norseman in the Goldfields-Esperance region of Western Australia. The small townsite, located about north of the Eyre Highway, serviced a field which was discovered in June 1896 by Arthur Bell. Despite the high yield of ore which was obtained, progress was slow due to the difficult terrain of the Fraser Range (being primarily composed of hard quartz below the surface) combined with a lack of capital to develop the area. By the end of 1897 it had a population of 51, notably including only one female. Eyre Highway
Eyre Highway is a highway linking Western Australia and South Australia via the Nullarbor Plain. Signed as National Highways 1 and A1, it forms part of Highway 1 and the Australian National Highway network linking Perth and Adelaide. It was named after explorer Edward John Eyre, who was the first European to cross the Nullarbor by land, in 1840–1841. Eyre Highway runs from Norseman in Western Australia, past Eucla, to the state border. Continuing to the South Australian town of Ceduna, it then crosses the top of the Eyre Peninsula before reaching Port Augusta. Norseman, Western Australia
Norseman is a town located in the Goldfields-Esperance region of Western Australia along the Coolgardie-Esperance Highway, east of Perth and above sea level. It is also the starting point of the Eyre Highway, and the last major town in Western Australia before the South Australian border to the east. At the 2021 census, Norseman had a population of 562, of which 17% were Australian Aboriginal. History The quest for gold led to the establishment of Norseman, on the traditional land of the Ngadju.
