Dunbrack Street
Dunbrack Street is a arterial road in Mainland Halifax, Nova Scotia. It runs from Route 306 (Old Sambro Road) in Spryfield to Kearney Lake Road in Rockingham. Prior to 2019, Dunbrack Street ran from Kearney Lake Road in Rockingham to Main Avenue in Fairview. The remaining section was named Northwest Arm Drive until 2019. The former Northwest Arm section is assigned Trunk 32 by the provincial transportation department as an unsigned highway. Dunbrack Street is named for Roy Dunbrack, who was a surveyor for the city of Halifax, Nova Scotia. The Halifax Dunbrack Soccer Club is named after the street. Northwest Arm Drive The North West Arm Drive was a four-lane expressway in Halifax that ran from Main Avenue connecting Fairview to Route 306 (Old Sambro Road), connecting to Highway 102 and Trunk 3. Bedford Highway
The Bedford Highway is a highway in the Halifax Regional Municipality, Nova Scotia that is part of Trunk 2. It runs around the western side of the Bedford Basin. The highway starts at the Windsor Street intersection on the Halifax Peninsula and passes by the communities of Fairview, Rockingham, and Bedford, where it becomes part of Trunk 1 to Highway 101 . Historically the Bedford Highway was part of the route from Halifax to Windsor, but also formed the first stage of a journey to Truro, with Sackville's Twelve Mile House staging inn marking the start of the Truro road. Cogswell Street Interchange
The Cogswell Interchange is a multi-level highway interchange in downtown Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. It was built as the first stage of a greater scheme for an elevated freeway, called Harbour Drive, which would have run south through downtown and necessitated demolition of much of the downtown building stock. The plan was halted in the face of significant public opposition, but the Cogswell Interchange remains a visible reminder, occupying a large amount of prime land and posing a barrier to pedestrian movement. As the interchange is functionally obsolete and increasingly expensive to maintain, the municipal government has decided to demolish the interchange and replace it with a more conventional street grid. Northwest Arm
The Northwest Arm, originally named Sandwich River, is an inlet in eastern Canada off the Atlantic Ocean in Nova Scotia's Halifax Regional Municipality. Geography Part of Halifax Harbour, it measures approximately 3.5 km in length and 0.5 km in width and defines the western side of the Halifax Peninsula. The waterway is oriented along a bearing of 135° (southeast) and 315° (northwest). Nova Scotia Trunk 3 is an east-west trunk highway in Nova Scotia. The route runs from Halifax to Yarmouth, along the South Shore. Trunk 3's status as an important regional highway link has been superseded by the parallel Highway 103. Fairview, Nova Scotia
Fairview is a community within the urban area of Halifax in Nova Scotia, Canada. History Prior to European colonization, the Mi'kmaq lived on the land for thousands of years. In the 1750s, many of the Foreign Protestants settled in the area. First known as the ''Westerwald'' ("western forest"), the settlement was called the ''Dutch Village'' by non-German locals.
