Dunbeath (horse)
Dunbeath (23 March 1980 – after 1996) was an American-bred Thoroughbred racehorse and sire. He was one of the best two-year-olds in Europe in 1982 when he won his last four races including the Royal Lodge Stakes and the William Hill Futurity. He was an early favourite for the following year's Epsom Derby but was beaten in all three of his races in 1983. He later raced with no success in the United States and was retired to stud at the end of the 1984 season. He had little impact as a breeding stallion. Background Dunbeath was a bay horse with a narrow white blaze bred in Kentucky by Eaton Farms Inc & Red Bull Stable. He was sired by Grey Dawn, a French stallion best known for beating Sea-Bird in the 1964 Grand Critérium. Grey Dawn (horse)
Grey Dawn (1962–1991) was a French Thoroughbred Champion racehorse who was the only horse ever to beat Sea-Bird. Background Grey Dawn was bred and raced by American Gertrude Widener, a member by marriage of the prominent racing Widener family. She maintained homes and racing stables in New York City and Paris. Grey Dawn was trained by Etienne Pollet. Racing career In 1964, Grey Dawn defeated Sea-Bird in the Grand Critérium. He also won the Prix de la Salamandre and Prix Morny to earn French Champion Two-Year-Old Colt honors. At age three, Grey Dawn won the Prix de Fontainebleau and ran second in the Poule d'Essai des Poulains (French 2000 Guineas). Grey Classic
Grey Classic (1983–1989) was a Canadian Thoroughbred Champion racehorse. Background Bred and raced by Ernie L. Samuel's Sam-Son Farm of Milton, Ontario, Grey Classic was conditioned for racing by Olympic equestrian Gold Medalist and Canadian Horse Racing Hall of Fame inductee Jim Day. Racing career Ridden by Irwin Driedger, as a two-year-old in 1985, Grey Classic won four of seven starts including the Summer Stakes and then the two top races for Canadian juveniles, the Cup and Saucer Stakes on turf and the Coronation Futurity Stakes on dirt. Group races, also known as Pattern races, or Graded races in some jurisdictions, are the highest level of races in Thoroughbred horse racing. York Racecourse is a horse racing venue in York, North Yorkshire, England. It is the third biggest racecourse in Britain in terms of total prize money offered, and second behind Ascot Racecourse, Ascot in prize money offered per meeting. Goodwood Racecourse
Goodwood Racecourse is a horse-racing track five miles north of Chichester, West Sussex, in England controlled by the family of the Duke of Richmond, whose seat is nearby Goodwood House.
