Dullu
Dullu ( ne, दुल्लु) is an urban Municipality in Dailekh District of Karnali Province in Nepal. At the time of the 2011 Nepal census former Dullu had a population of 30,457 people living in 5,861 individual households. After the reconstruction of local level authority in Nepal in 2017, the total area of the new Dullu municipality has and total population is now (as of 2011 Nepal census) 41,540. History The Municipality was formed merging 6 former Village Development Committee i.e. Naule Katuwal, Nepa, Paduka, Dullu, Pusakot Chiudi and Badalamji since 18 May 2014. Fulfilling the requirement of the new constitution of Nepal in 2015, all old municipalities (58 municipalities) and villages (more than 3900) were restructured into 753 new Municipalities and Villages, thus Malika, Gauri, Kalbhairab and Gamaudi villages Incorporated with former Dullu municipality. Dailekh District
Dailekh District ( ne, दैलेख जिल्ला ) a part of Karnali Province, is one of the 77 districts of Nepal. The district, with Dailekh as its district headquarters, covers an area of and had a population of 225,201 in 2001 and 261,770 in 2011. Etymology It is said that the name Dailekh is derived from Dadhi Lekh. Dadhi stands for Dadhichi. Dadhichi was a sage in ancient time and Lekh mean hill. Etymologically ‘Dadhi Lekh’ means the hill where sage Dadhichi meditated. There is also another story about name that, in ancient time it was a place of Devatas, so it called "Daibalok" which later became 'Dailekh'. Karnali Province ( ne, कर्णाली प्रदेश) is one of the seven federal provinces of Nepal formed by the new constitution which was adopted on 20 September 2015. The total area of the province is covering 18.97% of the country, making it the largest province in Nepal. Sinja
The Sinja Valley is located in the Jumla District in Karnali Province, of Nepal. The valley was the ancient capital city of the Khasa Kingdom and is considered a historically significant place. The valley is also considered as the birthplace of Nepali language. Site description The valley houses the ancient capital city of the Khasas that ruled this area from the 12th to the 14th Century. Palaces, temples, and the ancient remains of a settlement were uncovered during excavations spearheaded by the Department of Archaeology at Cambridge University. Major finds from the site include a large network of underground pipes that formed a complex water delivery system as well as a ring of massive monolithic stone columns circumscribing the settlement. The Digital Himalaya project was established in December 2000 by Mark Turin, Alan Macfarlane, Sara Shneiderman, and Sarah Harrison.
