Maria Teresa Magdalena Abellare Llamedo-Cruzata (born July 22, 1961), professionally known as Dulce (), is a Filipino singer and actress. Early life Llamedo was born to a poor family of musicians on July 22, 1961 in Villa Bulsita, a sitio of Barangay Bulacao in Pardo, Cebu City. Her father, Leoncio, was a carpenter who played the double bass in the village band while her mother, Andrea, was a dress-maker who sang in their local chapel. She is the sixth of eight siblings having four sisters and three brothers. Among her first five siblings, Llamedo is the only one who completed her elementary education (she was able to send her two younger siblings up to college). However, due to financial problems, she couldn't enroll even in public schools for higher education. She later attempted to finish high school through the Alternative Learning System. Metropop Song Festival
The Metro Manila Popular Music Festival (also known as Metropop) was launched by the Popular Music Foundation of the Philippines in 1977 and held annually from 1978 to 1985. It was "the country’s pioneering and once foremost songwriting competition," according to The Philippine Star. Its objective was to promote the advancement of Filipino music, and its chief proponents were journalist Teodoro Valencia and Imee Marcos. These festivals launched many the careers of songwriters and singers (who interpreted the songs), and gave original Filipino music more than a few memorable and modern-day song classics.
