Dean Alan Dugger (September 18, 1933 – March 5, 2000) was an American football player. Dugger was born in Philadelphia in 1933 and attended Stonewall Jackson High School in Charleston, West Virginia. He attended the Ohio State University and played college football at the end position for the Ohio State Buckeyes football team from 1952 to 1954. He was selected by the Football Writers Association of America as a first-team player on its 1954 College Football All-America Team. He was also rated as one of the two best ends in the Midwest, and selected by the Associated Press as a first-team end on the 1954 All-Big Ten Conference football team. Dugger is a mass transportation specialist who worked for the San Francisco Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) district from 1992 to 2011, spending the last four years as BART's first female General Manager. Early life and education Dugger was born and raised in Alabama on a chicken farm. Dugger earned a bachelor's degree from Rutgers University in New Jersey in 1973. She also attended a program for Senior Executives in State and Local Government at Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government. Career Before BART (1970s to 1992) Dugger served as a legislative director for the American Civil Liberties Union. Lloyd Dugger (1926–May 26, 2005), better known as Doug Dugger, was an American country music singer with a religious style that led him to be dubbed the "Chaplain of Country Music." His hits included "Bummin' Around" and " The Deck of Cards". As a boy in Missouri, Dugger played banjo and sang. He was discharged from the US Navy in 1946 and moved to Missoula, Montana, where he attended a T. Texas Tyler show at an American Legion post and was invited to play with the band informally. The group then hired him as a bass player. Dugger toured with Tyler until 1956, when he signed with Top Talent, Inc. and appeared and toured with ABC-TV's ''Ozark Jubilee''. Edward Dugger
Edward Dugger (June 6, 1894 – March 5, 1939) was a military commander and prominent African American citizen in Medford, Massachusetts. During his career, he served in World War I, commanded Company K of the 372nd Infantry Regiment ultimately rising to the rank of lieutenant colonel. He was President of the West Medford Men's Community Club and Chair of the Citizen's Committee bringing Boy Scouts Troop No. 11 to the area. Dugger was the first African American to be appointed to the Medford City Planning Board and to have a Medford public park named after him, "Dugger Park." Dugger died in 1939. John Richard Rabbit Dugger (January 13, 1923 – February 23, 1988) was an American football player who played three seasons in the National Football League (NFL) with the Detroit Lions and Chicago Bears. He was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the second round of the 1945 NFL Draft. Dugger played college football at Ohio State University and attended Canton McKinley High School in Canton, Ohio. Robert Lee Dugger (born July 3, 1995) is an American professional baseball pitcher who is currently a free agent. He has previously played in MLB for the Miami Marlins, Tampa Bay Rays, Seattle Mariners and Cincinnati Reds. Amateur career Dugger attended Tomball High School in Tomball, Texas. In 2013, as a senior, he led Tomball to a Texas UIL 4A State Championship, throwing a complete game in which he allowed only one run while striking out six, along with going 3–4 at the plate, including a three-run inside-the-park home run. Ronnie Dugger (born 1931) is an American progressive journalist. Dugger attended UT and was editor of The Daily Texan 1950–1951. He was the founding editor of The Texas Observer from 1954 to 1961. Later he served as the Observer's publisher, spending more than 40 years with the political newsmagazine. Dugger has published hundreds of articles in Harper's Magazine, The Nation, The New Yorker, The Atlantic Monthly, The Progressive and other periodicals.
