Duffield (surname)
Duffield is a surname in the United Kingdom, Australia, South Africa, Zimbabwe and the United States. The surname emerged in the 1300s and is derived from the villages of Duffield in Yorkshire and Derbyshire. History Hereditary surnames were first introduced in Britain in baronial families following the Norman Conquest in 1066. The knightly class began to adopt hereditary names in the 1100s, filtering down to most English families by 1400, although their form was still evolving. David Arthur Duffield (born 21 September 1940) is an American billionaire businessman in the software industry. He is the co-founder and former chairman of PeopleSoft, co-founder and chairman emeritus of Workday, Inc., and current founder and CEO of Ridgeline, Inc. He has been on the ''Forbes'' World's Richest People list for many years. David Duffield cofounded two publicly traded enterprise software companies after age 40: PeopleSoft and Workday. Thomas Duffield
Thomas Duffield (October 1782 – 15 March 1854) was a Tory politician who sat in the House of Commons from 1832 to 1844. Duffield was born at Ancaster in Lincolnshire, the youngest son of Michael Duffield and his wife, Alice Duffield, younger daughter of Jeremiah Crutchley Senior of Southwark in Surrey (now Greater London) and sister of Jeremiah Crutchley Junior of Sunninghill Park in Berkshire. (Duffield's older brother George inherited Sunninghill Park on the death of Jeremiah Crutchley Junior in December 1805, and changed his name to Crutchley.) Robert Duffield
Robert Duffield (1935 - 2000) was a journalist who served as foreign editor of The Australian from 1968 until 1974. His single most memorable work was ''Rogue Bull'', a 1979 biography of Lang Hancock. Duffield won the Clarion Prize at the 1988 WA Media Awards. He spent his last years as a lecturer at the Western Australian Institute of Technology, now Curtin University. He inspired a whole generation of journalists from the first journalism school in WA. Peter Duffield (born 4 February 1969) is an English former professional footballer. A striker, he played for sixteen league clubs in 17 years. Duffield began his career as an 18-year-old with Sheffield United in 1987. In his time at Bramall Lane he made 58 league appearances and scored 16 goals, including a perfect penalty record of 7 scored from 7 taken which is a club record. Duffield also holds the club record for being the first Sheffield United substitute to be substituted after playing 14 minutes at Craven Cottage against Fulham on 29 April 1989. Paul Duffield (born 5 February 1985) is a former professional Australian rules footballer who played for the Fremantle Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). He plays mainly as a half back flanker and began his football career at South Fremantle Football Club in the West Australian Football League.
