Dufaux was a Swiss car manufacturer established in Geneva in 1904 by Charles and Frédéric Dufaux. The first Dufaux was built to enter the famous Gordon Bennett Cup race, held that year in the region of Taunus near Frankfurt am Main. The car had an eight-in-line engine with a displacement of no less than 12,760 cc, delivering at 1300 rpm. The event was a total failure for the Dufaux brothers as their car with the number 7 not even could start because of a broken wheel. This car still exists and is permanently exhibited at the Musée Nationale de l'automobile (Collection Schlumpf / Cité de l'Automobile) in Mulhouse (France). The anime and manga series ''Zatch Bell!'', known in Japan as for the manga and for the anime, features an extensive cast created and illustrated by Makoto Raiku. The series takes place in Modern day Japan and follows a genius teenager named Kiyo Takamine and his Zatch Bell, a human-like being with supernatural powers. Creation and conception After Raiku's "Newtown Heroes" series in the Shonen Sunday Super ended, Raiku looked at his old drafts he created in the past for an idea for his next series. One of his ideas was about a mercenary who used a giant sword to defeat enemies. After playing with that idea for three months, Raiku decided to abandon it and go with another idea. His next idea was a story where a middle school student, the prototype of Kiyo, finds an old toy that turns into a giant knight that combats evil. Dufaux Triplane
The so-called Dufaux triplane was an unnamed experimental aircraft built in Switzerland in 1908. It was constructed by the brothers Armand and Henri Dufaux who had previously experimented with a model helicopter. This new aircraft incorporated a feature far ahead of its time; the concept of a tiltrotor. Based on what they had learned from their helicopter, the Dufaux brothers hoped to generate vertical as well as horizontal thrust from their engine installation, and conceived of an aircraft where the engine and propeller would be mounted at the centre of the airframe and would be able to pivot 180° to provide forward, upward, and even backward thrust (the latter to assist in braking). Experiments with a boxkite fitted with an engine in 1905 proved promising, so construction of a full-scale aircraft proceeded. __NOTOC__ The Dufaux 4 was an experimental aircraft built in Switzerland in 1909 and which was originally constructed as an unnamed biplane, the third aircraft constructed by the brothers Armand and Henri Dufaux. The aircraft was entirely conventional for the era - a two-bay biplane with unstaggered wings of equal span and a triangular-section fuselage. Construction began in mid-September 1909 and work proceeded rapidly, as the brothers hoped to claim a CHF 1,000 prize put up by the Automobile Club de Suisse for the first Swiss-built aircraft to fly a 1 km closed-circuit.
