Duckwater, Nevada
Duckwater is an unincorporated community located in the central portion of the U.S. state of Nevada, in the Duckwater Valley at about the same latitude as Sacramento, California. It is in Nye County, at the eastern edge of the Duckwater Indian Reservation, near the Red Mountain Wilderness at the end of Nevada State Route 379. The city of Las Vegas is about 200 miles to the south-southeast. A post office was established at Duckwater in 1873. The community was named for the ducks which frequented wetlands near the original town site. Education All children may attend the Nye County School District's Duckwater School, but Native American children may electively attend the Duckwater Shoshone Elementary School (D.S.E.S.), located on the reservation. The White Pine County School District is the public school district of White Pine County, Nevada. The superintendent in 2018 is Adam Young. Ely, Nevada
Ely (, ) is the largest city and county seat of White Pine County, Nevada, United States. Ely was founded as a stagecoach station along the Pony Express and Central Overland Route. In 1906 copper was discovered. Ely's mining boom came later than the other towns along US 50. Lund is a small town and census-designated place in White Pine County, Nevada, United States. The population of Lund as of 2020 was 211. Etymology Lund was named for Anthon H. Lund, a Mormon church official. History Lund was settled in 1898 on land that the United States government had given the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormons) in lieu of land that had been confiscated under the Edmunds–Tucker Act.
